Are you passionate about helping others and supporting your community? Join our dedicated Public Assistance and Employment Services (PAES) team, where you'll play a key role in ensuring timely and efficient service delivery for individuals seeking public assistance. This position provides critical paraprofessional support to the division's human service workers who determine eligibility for public assistance programs such as SNAP, TANF, and Medicaid. Provides paraprofessional support for Administrative Assistant IIs, and assists clients in a welcoming lobby environment and through virtual communication platforms. Uses automated systems to document, verify, and manage client information and generate reports. Scans and maintains electronic and statistical records with accuracy and confidentiality. Collaborates with county staff and community partners to problem-solve and responds to client inquiries. Monitors workflow and coordinates tasks to supports the unit's efficiency. Identifies and resolves service delivery issues to enhance the client experience, and steps in as needed to support administrative functions for the Central Functions Team.
NOTES: This job announcement may be used to fill multiple positions across the department's 4 offices. This position has the ability to work in a limited hybrid environment. The schedules for these positions are Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.- 4:30 p.m. or 8:30 a.m.- 5:00 p.m., dependent on location. At the time of this advertisement, there are available positions at 7611 Little River Turnpike, Annandale, VA 22003 and 8350 Richmond Highway, Alexandria, VA 22309.
The salary offer will not exceed the midpoint ($60,340.18 per year) of the advertised compensation range. Promotional rules apply for current Fairfax County Government and Fairfax County Public Schools employees

Illustrative Duties

Assists professional staff with specific routine care management services such as program publicity, routine/limited service eligibility determination, intake/history client interviews, language translations, interpretations of health information and services, and administration and scoring of diagnostic tests; -
Maintains/updates information on available human services and obtains information on new services; -
Maintains resource library and assists clients with use of library; -
Collects and presents information regarding client dissatisfaction or misuse of services; -
Collects, formats and presents program statistics for reports and program assessments; -
Teaches, interprets and/or assists with conducting health information classes.

Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to the following:

graduation from high school or G.E.D. issued by state department of education; plus three years of work experience, including two years in some area of human services (related two-year [associate] degree may be substituted for the required human service experience).
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check and child protective services to the satisfaction of the employer.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience providing administrative support.
- At least one year of experience providing front-line customer service responding to inquires face to face, by telephone, and in writing with excellent customer service skills.
- At least one year of experience in working with the public and managing multiple tasks at one time.
- At least one year of experience working with a diverse multicultural population.
- At least one year of experience working in some area of Human Services.
- At least one year of experience entering data into multiple computer programs.
- At least one year of experience utilizing scanning programs to manage, sort, and scan documents.
- Clear and concise oral and written communications skills.
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Experience and proficiency in using Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel computer software applications; and the willingness to learn new applications and systems as needed.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to input, access, and retrieve information from a computer. Ability to perform repetitive hand, arm, wrist and shoulder movements. Ability to travel to various locations throughout Fairfax County to provide coverage, attend meetings and trainings. All duties performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
