Loan Review Officer I

Responsible for assessing the level of credit risk of the Bank's loan portfolio primarily through the performance of analytical reviews of new and existing individual commercial and agricultural credit relationships. This position reports to the Senior Loan Review Officer.


Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:


  • Perform credit analyses on commercial and agricultural credit relationships as assigned and assess risk ratings based on established policy approved by the Board of Directors. Additionally, perform analyses on previously identified problem credits noting specific actions expected to reduce the level of credit risk in these credit
  • Communicate results of loan review analyses in written form for distribution to management personnel.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with loan officer and management personnel regarding the analysis of the credit relationships, noting specific actions expected to reduce the level of risk.
  • Review for compliance with prudent underwriting standards based on internal policy and industry specifications.
  • Complete the quarterly collateral analysis of the commercial real estate and agricultural classified relationships.
  • Performs assigned required functions within the department when other resources are not available.
  • Complete required training associated with job function.



Qualifications

Education/Experience:


  • Bachelor's degree preferred with an emphasis in business or finance, or commensurate banking experience.
  • 2 years of experience in lending, underwriting, or risk management preferred.



Skills:


  • High level of analytical skills and extensive knowledge of credit underwriting and documentation standards for all types of loans.
  • Knowledge of policy requirements and expectations related to the lending function.
  • Good oral and written communication skills including high computer literacy.
  • Good organizational skills and ability to substantiate reviews with detailed workpapers.
  • High level of integrity in order to maintain independent judgment and privacy of customer and Bank information.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office with advanced training in Microsoft Excel preferred.
  • Ability to build constructive relationships with team members.


At First Mid, base salary is one component of our Total Rewards program. Exact compensation is determined by factors such as (but not limited to) education, skills, internal equity, and experience. This position offers additional compensation in the form of discretionary short-term incentives (i.e., bonus, incentives, and/or commission).
