THE POSITION

We are looking for a dynamic and skilled professional ready to embark on an exciting new career journey. The Department of Environmental Protection offers a prime opportunity for the role of Air Planning Section Chief, where you will be instrumental in guiding the air planning agenda through scientific analysis and data-driven strategies. Your responsibilities will include ensuring that all initiatives comply with state and federal air quality standards while promoting community engagement and public education on air quality matters. If you are dedicated to environmental stewardship and possess a strong background in air quality planning, we invite you to apply for this vital position that allows you to make a significant difference in both our community and the environment.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

You will play a crucial role in achieving and upholding the National Ambient Air Quality Standards by disseminating information to the public regarding emissions from stationary and area sources, as well as promoting voluntary measures to mitigate these emissions and overseeing regulatory initiatives. Your responsibilities will also include formulating strategies aimed at reducing air pollution from these sources, which may involve creating or revising regulations, policies, and associated materials, or establishing voluntary programs that encompass funding and public outreach. You will coordinate technical and legal resources to support the development of these strategies, monitor federal developments for their potential effects on Pennsylvania's programs, and provide management with informed recommendations. Additionally, you will serve as the primary resource for management, advisory committees, and select external organizations, including associations and coalitions, while collaborating with federal counterparts at the EPA on issues related to stationary and area sources.
