The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience. The Critical Care Advanced Practice Provider, as a nurse practitioner, will deliver health care in the critical care settings to include, but not limited to, the recognition and management of common, critical illnesses and injuries; and the provisioning of care across the health care continuum with emphasis on early detection, treatment, and prevention of diseases, This provider will also have adminstrative time dedicated to help ICU regional manager and local site ICU manager with operations and functioning of the critical care unit, Essential Functions: Creating scheduling for other physician assistants and nurse practitioners in the critical care unit, performing evaluations for other providers, training and orienting new hires, Must be able to communicate with leadership in regards to operational issues that may occur and assist in problem solving, Obtains and records patient history, Performs physical and medical screening examinations, Completes diagnostic and therapeutic studies, Orders diagnostic laboratory tests, radiological studies or other therapies as appropriate, Establishes diagnostic decision-making and initiates a treatment plan, which may include ordering medications, additional therapeutic modalities, etc, Coordinates patient care with other members of the health care team, Initiates consultation requests to other health professionals to provide more comprehensive patient management, Instructs and counsels patients regarding mental and physical health, referring patients to appropriate specialists/resources, Completes charting in a thorough and timely manner, Adequately manages patient flow in the ICU, Performs procedures as allowed by state law and under the direction of the supervising or collaborating physician, Works within legal, regulatory, and ethical practice standards, Actively participates in department staff meetings and risk management education, Completes required courses, i, e, HIPAA, EMTALA and other CME requirements, Other duties as assigned, including but not limited to academic lectures and / or quality improvement projects, Job Requirements: Masters Degree in Nursing, Nurse Practitioner certification with ACNP or AGACNP certification, Registered Professional Nurse with current NJ state license; Prior work experience as a professional nurse, registration and licensure by NJ state board of medical examiners required, Basic life support and advanced life support certifications, NJ CDS and DEA Licensure, ability and willingness to accommodate scheduling needs including extended hours, weekdays, weekends, overnights, weekends and holidays, Knowledge and Skills: Medical and broad based clinical critical care knowledge, strong verbal and written communication skills, excellent time management skills, and ability to effectively and successfully work with all ICU and hospital employees Additional Information: RWJBarnabas Health is the most comprehensive health care delivery system in New Jersey, with a service area covering five million people.
