Position Summary

As a Lead Artificial Intelligence Specialist in the MADLab, you will play a crucial role in educating both technical and non-technical individuals about AI. You will present AI topics in settings ranging from one-on-one meetings to large groups that may encompass hundreds of people. You will serve as the AI expert for AI-specific design thinking workshops, helping participants understand what AI is and what it can and cannot do. In these workshops, you will serve as the AI expert, focusing on ideation, early-stage idea development, and understanding the groups' AI readiness. In addition, you will collaborate with technical teams to stay current on AI tools and products available both within Duke Energy and across the broader market. You'll assess the feasibility of ideas generated during workshops by developing short-term feasibility studies and pilots using AWS and Python and apply prompt engineering techniques for use cases suited to tools like Copilot or other LLM/Multi-modal models. This role requires someone who is proactive, collaborative, and confident interfacing directly with business partners through general conversation, presentations, demos and AI-focused discussions.

Responsibilities
  • Support, collaborate & work alongside Data Scientists and AI Specialists to ensure data optimization, model performance & delivery

  • Growing AI knowledge through partnerships with various lines of business's

  • Team member mentor (professional and technical development)

  • Team leader AI compliance (Cyber, Cloud, Architecture)

  • Support various product teams with dev, implement & deployment

  • Ensure product teams are well represented and properly staffed

  • Complete understanding of team product portfolio and value proposition

  • Assists with discovery on bleeding edge technologies/tools to incorporate within team

Required/Basic Qualifications
  • Associates degree

  • Minimum 7 years related work experience

  • In lieu of Associates degree(s) AND 7 year(s) related work experience listed above, High School/GED AND 9 year(s) related work experience

Desired Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning technologies classifications, regressions and neural networks (Deep Learning)

Working Conditions:
  • Hybrid Mobility Classification - Work will be performed from both remote and onsite locations after the onboarding period. However, hybrid employees should live within a reasonable daily commute to a Duke Energy facility.

  • Experience in working with Data Scientist within an AI Organization
