EHS PROGRAMS MANAGER

Work Model: Hybrid Local Onsite 3-4 days per week.

What You Will Do:

Reporting to the Vice President of Environemtal, Health & Safety, the EHS Programs Manager is a member of the Corporate EHS team and is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing enterprise-wide safety programs to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and to promote a proactive, risk-based safety process. Initial areas of focus will include contractor safety, electrical safety and the company-wide risk assessment process. This role will also lead the safety audit program with a focus on supporting development of meaningful corrective actions to address identified areas of improvement. The role will need to work cross-functionally with our Operational Excellence team, site-based EHS professionals, and our operations teams to drive alignment, standardization, and execution of risk reduction activities. The EHS Programs Manager will also provide hands-on support and training to our mill operations. This role will lead strategic initiatives, support standardization of safety practices across our mill and support continuous safety improvement.

Safety Program Development:



  • Lead the development of written Health and Safety Programs for deployment across the organization.
  • Develop tactical tools and associated training for implementation of written Health and Safety programs.
  • Review site risk data to proactively identify opportunities of need within the organization and develop strategies to implement against these.
  • Complete hands-on support across all sites to include conducting risk assessment of operations.


Safety Audit Leadership:



  • Coordinate and lead company-wide safety audit to assess site compliance with company standards and OSHA requirements.
  • Support mills in developing and defining meaningful corrective measures to address findings from completed safety audits.
  • Proactively review findings across the enterprise and recommend/define safety programming enhancements to address common opportunities.


Contractor Safety:



  • Develop an overall strategy and tools for implementation of a company-wide contractor safety program.
  • Lead the company-wide implementation of the third-party contractor qualification process.
  • Define tools and expectations to routinely interface with contractors to ensure compliance with EHS regulations and best practices.
  • Provide on-site leadership and support during key mill down activities and large corporate capital projects.


EHS Training:



  • Develop annual EHS training plan to ensure company-wide compliance.
  • Lead the development of training tools and resources to assist site teams in management of safety and environmental risks.
  • Work with Human Resources and Operations to enable implementation of our new-hire safety on-boarding process.
  • Deliver EHS training to site employees, EHS professionals, and mill leadership.


Safety Mangement & Leadership:



  • Serve as an SME in the utilization of our EHS regulatory and compliance software solution.
  • Analyze, communicate, and act against trends from tasks, assessments, audits and observations maintained in our system.
  • Provide recommendations to enhance our existing safety management system and own implementation



Education/Experience:



  • Bachelor's degree in occupational health & safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or a related field; Preferred: Master's degree or professional certifications such as CSP (Certified Safety Professional) or CIH (Certified Industrial Hygienist)
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in EHS roles, preferably in manufacturing
  • Developing and implementing safety programs across large, complex locations.
  • Managing compliance with OSHA and other applicable regulations/consensus standards.
  • Proven ability to conduct training, audits, and risk assessments.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams (e.g, HR, Operations, Legal)
  • Establishing company-wide standards


Essential Functions:



  • Up to 20% domestic travel
  • Must be able to read and interpret rules and regulations.
  • Must be physically capable of standing, walking and climbing stairs up to 8-10 hours per day.
  • Must be able to work in a hot, dusty, humid and noisy mill environment around high-speed equipment.
  • Must be able to adjust work hours to support the safety and environmental needs of a 24/7 facility.


Total Reward Details:

The base compensation actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's job-related knowledge, skills, education, and experience among other factors. Benefits are generally available after 30 days and include medical, dental, vision, life, disability coverage, employee assistance program, and a 401k plan. Paid time off will include vacation days, personal days, and company holidays.
