Material Handler - Lumber Yard - 1st shift - Sonoco Wood Reels

Summary:
Forklift Experience is REQUIRED. The Material Handler position is responsible for accurately pulling orders to fill customer orders in a timely manner. The material handler will also be responsible for keeping accurate records of their activities and any issues they encounter during order fulfillment. This person will work closely with all departments within the plant as well as outside vendors/customers. We are looking for someone who has excellent communication skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities:
* Pulling stacks of lumber and supplies needed to complete production orders.
* Organizing stocked items in the yard and loading trucks.
* Keeping accurate records of activities such as pull sheets, shipping paperwork, etc.
* Communicating effectively with other employees and customers when needed.
* Monitoring the yard for safety hazards and debris and reporting them to management.
* Assisting the production team by keeping them supplied with materials.
* Maintaining a safe and organized work area.

Qualifications:
* Ability to read and write English.

* Forklift Experience is REQUIRED.
* High school diploma or equivalent experience preferred.
* Strong organizational skills and time management skills required.
* Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
* Physically able to stand, sit, move around warehouse, climb stairs, bend, reach, push, pull, lift, carry, and walk throughout the day.
* Able to use basic hand tools.
* Basic computer skills required.
* Experience using Microsoft Office programs preferred.
