Description
This job posting is for a position that is contingent upon contract award. The role may not be filled until the contract is awarded and finalized. Overview A Senior Shift Outage Manager is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all operations, production, maintenance, and construction project activities on a daily and/or shift basis within TA-55 and PF-4. Their role is critical to ensuring the safe, efficient, and timely completion of facility tasks. Roles & Responsibilities This position will participate in and provide leadership, oversight and LANL personnel mentoring for the following activities that are critical to delivery of the 30 pit per year mission at LANL: Planning and Scheduling:
- Manage detailed schedules for outages, routine maintenance, operations and production, and construction project activities.
- Coordinate with various departments to ensure all tasks are planned and resources are appropriately allocated for optimized schedule completion.
Team Leadership:
- Lead and manage cross-functional interactions, including operations, maintenance, engineering, and construction projects.
- Conduct daily briefings to communicate progress, address challenges, and align teams.
Critical Path Management:
- Identify and manage critical path activities to optimize schedule adherence.
- Adjust plans as needed to address unexpected issues or delays.
Safety and Compliance:
- Ensure safety and compliance with work requirements is maintained at all times during on shift work activities.
- Monitor work conditions to ensure the safety of personnel and the environment.
Problem-Solving and Decision-Making:
- Quickly resolve issues that arise during field execution to minimize downtime.
- Make informed decisions to maintain progress while ensuring safety and quality.
- Provide experience and exposure to industry lessons learned and best practices in support of problem resolution.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain detailed records of execution activities, including progress, challenges, and resolutions.
- Prepare post-outage reports to evaluate performance and identify areas for improvement.
Mentoring/Coaching:
- Provide mentoring of LANL personnel in areas of work integration, outage management and nuclear maintenance best practices during day-to-day interactions.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in a technical field or equivalent technical training, experience and expertise (i.e., NR Engineer, SRO License, etc.).
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in DOE-NNSA nuclear facility maintenance management and outage related roles.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience as Shift Outage Manager, Director, Work Week Manager or similar role in commercial nuclear power or other technical industry (e.g., oil & gas).
- Strong leadership, technical expertise, and demonstrated ability to work under pressure.
- Strong communication skills to effectively build consensus and influence desired outcomes.
- Good problem-solving experience in complex work environments to facilitate timely completion of scheduled activities.
