What You'll Do



Summary/Objective:

The entry level Data Engineer I plays an important role in the implementation of Enterprise Data Management (EDM) Solutions at DCU. They should have practical experience developing EDM solutions, working knowledge of the technologies listed below, and an eagerness/ability to learn and train on new technologies and data integration approaches. Their duties include working with IT and Business Areas to design data pipeline strategies and running tests on their designs to isolate errors and enhance performance. They will be working closely with Cloud Development, Data Architecture, Data Modeling, and Quality Assurance teams to modernize and maintain the DCU data ecosystem to support company growth and dynamics.

  • As a Data Engineer, you will be part of a team responsible for designing, developing, optimizing, and maintaining the Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) processes for data used in operational and analytical applications
  • Assembling large, complex sets of data that meet non-functional and functional business requirements
  • Identifying, designing and implementing internal process improvements including re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability, optimizing data delivery, and automating manual processes
  • Building required infrastructure for optimal extraction, transformation and loading of data from various data sources using various technologies
  • Develops and executes test cases/plans to ensure high-quality releases, based on test driven development using industry best practices such as Gherkin
  • Working with stakeholders including data, design, product and executive teams and assisting them with data-related technical issues
  • Assists in producing detailed and comprehensive documentation for testing and deployment activities
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned by Managers(s).

What You'll Need




  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field
  • 0 - 2 Years in a similar role
  • Proficient in writing complex SQL statements and interpreting results for accuracy and performance
  • Knowledge of ETL design and development using tools like SnapLogic, PowerCenter, Glue, or SSIS
  • Knowledge of Data Integration, MDM, Business and Data Analysis and Modeling
  • Prior experience in a financial institution is preferred
  • Knowledge of data management industry (DW, BI, BD, Cloud, MDM, DG, DQ, Data Modeling)
  • Experience with or ability to learn modern data platforms involving AWS, Azure, GCP, Snowflake, etc.
  • Experience with or ability to learn Linux shell scripting and software development using languages such as SQL or Python
  • Experience with version control frameworks such as Gitlab or Git preferred
