Job Summary: The primary function of this position is to operate the coating line equipment used in the manufacturing process of our paperboard products. This includes operating machines that apply a liquid coating material to both sides of a sheet of paperboard.
Core Responsibilities/Essential Functions: * Safely operate the coating machine by controlling the speed of the machine and adjusting various settings as needed to ensure proper application of the coating material. * Monitor the temperature of the coating material as it is being applied and make adjustments where necessary to maintain the proper temperature range. * Maintain accurate records of product production and waste material generated. * Maintain equipment and keep equipment operational by performing preventative maintenance tasks such as cleaning screens, wipers, rollers, etc., and reporting any issues or repairs needed to the appropriate person. * Monitor the supply of raw materials and report when there are shortages. * Work safely around moving parts and electrical components and follow all safety guidelines set forth by the company. * Maintain good housekeeping practices by keeping work area neat and tidy. * Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: * Knowledge of paperboard manufacturing processes preferred but not required. * Previous experience working on a manufacturing line in a similar role preferred but not required. * High school diploma or equivalent degree required. * Basic math skills required. * Verbal and written communication skills required. * Ability to lift up to 50 pounds periodically required. * Ability to bend, twist, pull, and push carts weighing up to 200 pounds occasionally required. * Ability to stand for long periods of time without breaks required. * Ability to frequently access all areas of the facility including climbing stairs and ladders required. * Ability to differentiate between colors and shades of color required. * Computer literacy required. * Forklift certification required (training provided). * Will be expected to wear personal protective equipment such as ear plugs, safety glasses, steel-toed boots, etc.
