Job Description

We are seeking qualified candidates for our Manager, Investment Accounting position to join our team in New York.

This position will be located in our New York office and 100% on-site.

Responsibilities

  • Execute and manage daily/monthly/quarterly accounting processes to ensure the completeness and accuracy of investment accounting data, analysis and reporting
  • Manage and maintain investment accounting system data, including transactions, pricing, ratings/NAIC designations, categorization of securities for reporting purposes, SMF data, LTV and DSCR data for mortgage loans, etc.
  • Prepare, manage, and review quarterly investment reporting schedules, including U.S. GAAP and STAT disclosures and Brookfield reporting package submission
  • Coordinate with various stakeholders including Controllers, the Financial Reporting Group, Tax, Treasury and Brookfield team members
  • Prepare standard and ad-hoc reports and analyses for senior leadership
  • Manage quarterly and annual internal/external audit deliverables and inquiries including the maintenance of internal controls for audit readiness
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key third-party service providers
  • Drive process improvements and assist with the management of strategic initiatives and special projects
  • Assist with the research and documentation of new accounting standards and investment structures
  • Prepare and/or review fair value assessments, CECL and impairment analyses
  • Oversee the professional development of two full time senior investment accountants

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting
  • 5-10 years of investment accounting experience or minimum 10 years of accounting experience; insurance industry experience preferrable, but banking and other financial services industry experience will be considered
  • Broad knowledge of investments, investment lifecycle, control processes, and related US GAAP and Statutory accounting practices across various asset classes, including bonds, equity securities, limited partnerships, loans, and derivatives
  • Extensive knowledge of Clearwater Analytics highly preferred or other similar application (please specify).
  • Experience with Oracle general ledger highly desirable
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required
  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Ability to balance competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • A self-starter and a highly motivated individual who demonstrates the ability to exercise sound judgment and work effectively within and across teams

The base salary range provided below is for hires in those geographic areas only and will be commensurate with candidate experience. Pay ranges for candidates in other locations may differ based on the cost of labor in that location. In addition to base salary, all employees are eligible for an annual bonus based on company and individual performance as well as a generous benefits package.

New York pay range: $141,300 - $166,800
