As a Senior Connector Design Engineer within the Networking Segment of our Connected Mobility Solutions Business Unit, you will lead the design and development of high-speed connectors and cable assemblies for automotive applications. You'll combine technical expertise, project management, and global collaboration to bring next-generation connectivity products to market, ensuring they meet performance, cost, and schedule objectives.

What You Will Do

  • Lead the end-to-end design and development of automotive high-speed connectors and cable assemblies, ensuring compliance with industry standards and customer requirements.
  • Collaborate with global cross-functional teams (signal integrity, manufacturing integration, program management, sales, validation, senior leadership) to align on technical and business goals.
  • Conduct feasibility studies, simulations, and testing to validate and refine product designs.
  • Partner with manufacturing to select materials and optimize for design-for-manufacturability (DFM), design-for-assembly (DFA), and cost efficiency.
  • Create or update detailed 3D CAD models and 2D drawings.
  • Identify and implement innovative solutions that enhance performance, reliability, and quality.
  • Engage with customers and suppliers to capture requirements and resolve design challenges.
  • Lead design reviews and troubleshoot complex engineering problems.
  • Monitor industry trends in high-speed data transmission and automotive connectivity technologies.
  • Mentor junior engineers, providing technical guidance and peer review.
  • Prepare and deliver technical reports, proposals, and presentations to stakeholders.
  • Support manufacturing and quality teams during product launches; travel to manufacturing sites as needed.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or a related Engineering discipline
  • Minimum of 7 years of hands-on experience designing connectors, cable assemblies, or high-speed data solutions for automotive applications
  • Advanced CAD proficiency (PTC Creo, CATIA, Siemens NX, SolidWorks; NX preferred)
  • Experience designing precision injection-molded plastic parts, stamped & formed terminals
  • Familiarity with PLM systems (Teamcenter preferred)
  • Proficiency in DFMEA, GD&T, tolerance analysis, and DVP validation
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and strong communication abilities
  • Experience working within a team environment and interfacing with multiple stakeholders
  • Knowledge of automotive connector standards and specifications

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Experience with Signal Integrity, high-speed data transmission, or EMI mitigation
  • Hands-on mechanical, electrical, or environmental testing
  • Proficiency in mechanical or signal-integrity simulations (mechanical FEA or HFSS)
