The Department of Conservation and Natural Resources is seeking an experienced individual to provide skilled work in the maintenance of district roads, trails and facilities. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Maintenance Repairman 1, you will provide semi-skilled level maintenance and repair work in the building, mechanical, and electrical trades. Your duties will include assisting with the set up and operation of wooden sign shop equipment, moving sign and project lumber, and loading wood products by hand or forklift. In this position, you will handle lumber in the picnic table assembly line, strip and stack machined table parts, and assist with maintenance on table shop equipment. You will also assist with sowing seeds in nursery beds, operate backpack sprayers to apply insecticides and herbicides, and lifts tree seedlings from beds and pack into tubs. Additionally, you will fight wildfires when called upon as part of Penn Nursery's wildfire suppression team.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • This is a seasonal, full-time position with no healthcare benefits. There is not an option to buy into health care benefits. The season runs from approximately March 2025 until November 2025 at which time the employee will be placed on leave without pay. The employee will automatically be returned to employment March 2026.
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Overtime: During seedling lifting and seed collection seasons
  • Travel: Possible overnight stay during seed collection
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of experience in general maintenance work which has involved at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training that affords the applicant with the Required Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities.

Special Requirements:

  • This position requires possession of a valid Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License.
