Health Care Representative (Call Center) - Onsite | San Diego, CA 92123 Pay Rate: $21-$23/hr (based on experience)
Start Date: September 1, 2025 Job Type: Contract-to-Hire (13-week contract with extensions; typically converts to permanent after 1 year) Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-6:00 PM PST Flexibility Required: Occasional after-hours support (6-8 PM), weekends, and 2-3 holidays per year Location: 100% Onsite in San Diego, CA 92123 Note: While there may be an opportunity for remote work after successful completion of training, candidates must be fully committed to onsite work. Remote eligibility requires a private workstation, reliable internet, and a distraction-free environment. Position Overview We are seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Health Care Representative to join our call center team. This role is critical in supporting patients with their health plan needs, including Medicare redetermination, eligibility inquiries, and benefit explanations. You'll be the first point of contact for patients, helping them navigate their coverage and ensuring a positive experience. Key Responsibilities * Handle high-volume inbound and outbound calls (60-80 calls/day) * Assist patients with benefit inquiries, eligibility, and application support * Collect co-pays and explain coverage details * Troubleshoot issues and provide empathetic, solution-focused service * Maintain compliance with HIPAA and Medicare regulations * Use multi-line phone systems and internal tools to manage patient interactions * Deliver service aligned with "The Sharp Experience" - caring, kind, and supportive Qualifications * High School Diploma or GED (required) * Minimum 1 year of recent call center experience (healthcare preferred) * Experience in a healthcare call center environment is highly desirable * Strong multitasking and communication skills * Familiarity with HIPAA, Medicare, and multi-line phone systems * Must be career-oriented and eager to grow within the organization * No time off permitted during the first 13 weeks of training Additional Notes * Training is 13 weeks and must be completed onsite * After training, remote work may be considered based on performance and business needs * Candidates must be fully committed to onsite work due to the evolving nature of the role *Pay and Benefits* The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $23.00/hr.
