Who we are looking for:

We are currently looking for a Warehouse Supervisor to be based out of New Bedford, MA. Reporting to the Distribution Manager, this position will be responsible for managing all distribution functions for the New Bedford location, including safety programs, shipping & receiving, inventory management, and warehousing on 2nd shift. This position will lead a department of approximately 13 employees represented by a union. The Distribution Center is presently working 2 shifts M-F, with occasional Saturday work. This position may be assigned to any shift within the department but will primarily work 2nd shift 3pm-11pm.

What you'll do:



  • Work closely with our Customer Service, Manufacturing, Inventory Control, and Transportation departments, this position will oversee the assigned shift operations including distribution, warehousing, and fulfillment operations by maintaining and enhancing existing standard work.
  • Coordinate & plan all activity on the distribution center docks, including the timing and location for carriers to be loaded. Transportation types include flatbed, dry van, containers, LTL, will call and small parcel.
  • Achieve financial objectives for shift by managing controllable expenses.
  • Develop a safety culture in which all safety related programs are current, monitored, and enforced.
  • Drive consistency and cost reduction through the creation and implementation of improvements to our standard work.
  • Develop and implement processes to improve the Service Factor rate, Atkore's measure of on-time delivery.
  • Ensure that the team honors our Atkore core values of Accountability, Teamwork, Integrity, Respect, and Excellence in all aspects of their daily work.



What you'll bring:



  • High School diploma required, bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 3-5 years' experience working in a high-volume Distribution Center in a supervisory role, with focus on receiving, picking, and shipping.
  • Experience in managing distribution center KPI compliance.
  • Extensive experience with WMS and Scanning Systems operations and capabilities. JD Edwards preferred. Experience with WMS implementations a plus.
  • Track record of continuous improvement in safety metrics and program management.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience participating in cross functional Kaizen and Lean events.
  • Comprehensive oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Management experience in a union environment is preferred but not required.
  • Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (PowerPoint, Word and Excel).
  • Experience with JD Edwards, SAP or any other ERP system is a plus.



Within 3 months, you'll:



  • Complete your Atkore immersion program.
  • Understand how your job will help deliver Atkore's strategy.
  • Understand your team's strengths and opportunities.
  • Gain an understanding of the products and processes.
  • Gain an understanding of the training materials and procedures your team owns.
  • Update daily production reports and KPI boards.
  • Learn the Atkore Business System and how we use LEAN principles in running our business.
  • Develop functional understanding of the standard work relevant to your direct reports.
  • Participate in a Kaizen event relevant to your position.



Within 6 months, you'll:



  • Gain strong technical knowledge of the WMS systems utilized in day-to-day operations.
  • Have thorough understanding of Collective Bargaining Agreement.
  • Take on functional ownership of a 5s project in the warehouse.
  • Identify ways to strengthen the team's commitment to Atkore's core values of Accountability, Teamwork, Integrity, Respect and Excellence.
  • Take full ownership of the shift's Lean Daily Management, including KPI boards.
  • Fully understand how you and your team impact Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost.



Within 12 months, you'll:



  • Be managing an efficient team that meets or exceeds performance goals for Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost.
  • Create and update reports, training materials and procedures, as necessary.
  • Drive Lean Transformation strategy for your shift. Drive and implement projects to improve SQDC.
  • Have meaningful conversations with your direct reports to improve their engagement, alignment, and performance.

As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay for this position is $63,360 - $87,120. Placement in the range depends on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, relevant experience, skills, seniority, performance, shift, travel requirements, and business or organizational needs and may change over time. Other compensation may include, but not limited to, overtime, shift differentials, bonuses, commissions, stock, and other incentives.
