Auria is looking to hire a
Software Developer to support development of the Protected Tactical Enterprise System
(PTES) mission. This role is ONSITE in Colorado Springs, CO.
The ideal candidate will perform software development tasks to deliver new products and services to the PTES Mission Planning (MP) component of the Mission Management System (MMS). This position involves developing microservices, integrating complex systems, and applying optimization strategies in a distributed, containerized environment.
WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT TO DO:
- Develop, deploy, and test software using Java and related frameworks as part of Agile workflows
- Collaborate closely with system engineers, testers, and support personnel to ensure objectives are met
- Support integration of external/internal interfaces and conduct system troubleshooting
- Provide technical recommendations and deliver solution architecture presentations to stakeholders
WHAT THE TEAM REQUIRES:
- BS/BA in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
- (Engineer Level 3): Bachelor's degree and 7+ years relevant experience, Master's degree and 4+ years relevant experience
- (Engineer Level 4): Bachelor's degree and 12+ years of experience, Master's with 9+ years of experience
- Active U.S. Government SECRET security clearance (requires U.S. Citizenship)
- Strong experience in Java and object-oriented programming principles
- Solid understanding of core software engineering concepts, including:
- Object comparison, class constructors, and data structures
- Java memory management and garbage collection (G1GC, ZGC tuning)
- Checked vs. unchecked exceptions and their use cases
- Java Agents for monitoring/profiling
- Use of Comparable vs Comparator interfaces
- Weak vs. soft references
- Experience debugging software and modifying legacy or existing code
- Familiarity with Agile development tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence, Git)
- Experience managing microservices using Docker and Rancher
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
WHAT THE TEAM PREFERS:
- Strong experience with Java Streams and advanced data manipulation
- Proficiency in building event-driven architectures using Kafka and Kafka Streams
- Experience with Kubernetes for container orchestration
- Experience with Quarkus and/or Spring frameworks for developing microservices
- Familiarity with constraint-solving optimization libraries such as OptaPlanner or TimeFold
- Proficiency using Maven for Java build automation and dependency management
- Experience using Helm for packaging and deploying Kubernetes applications
- Ability to reason through and implement logic for merging/splitting overlapping date intervals
- Understanding of RESTful API design, including idempotency considerations and safe retry handling
PAY TRANSPARENCY: The salary offered will be based on the selected candidate's qualifications - skills, education & experience - and the position level. $94,000 - $150,000
