Employee Type: Regular Perform operations of heavy equipment as assigned.

Job Description:

This position is located in Louisville, Nebraska.

Tentative start date is in early September.

Essential duties:

  • Operate heavy earth-moving equipment such as dozers, excavators, loaders, mining trucks, scrapers, and more in all aspects of mining.
  • Perform proper equipment startup and shutdown procedures along with daily servicing of equipment.
  • Operate within the acceptable range of all gauges on the instrumentation panel.
  • Perform all job duties in accordance with MSHA law and regulations, established company safety policies, and state and federal environmental regulations in a safe manner consistent with North American Mining standards.
  • Practice defensive driving and operating at all times.

Other duties:

  • Work with other equipment operators in a safe and organized manner.
  • Assist in water management activities, reclamation, load/haul, construction, and maintenance activities, as necessary.
  • Perform utility work and operate utility equipment.
  • Assist the maintenance department with routine repairs.
  • Keep the supervisor informed of any potential problems.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Must understand basic mechanical workings of heavy equipment to prevent damage.
  • Operate equipment properly within tolerances as well as perform preventative maintenance and servicing on occasion.
  • Must have the ability to work with GPS units in the equipment.
  • Having the knowledge and ability to respond to emergencies and unpredictable situations.
  • Ability to recognize unsafe and adverse conditions and the knowledge to correct them.

Education and Training:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Two years of experience operating heavy off-road construction equipment preferred.
  • Willingness to work rotating shifts, night shifts, and weekends.
