MRR Facility Operations

Job Description

This position plays a critical role in supporting MURR's mission by ensuring that radioisotope production and research operations continue with minimal interruptions. The Maintenance Technician will perform preventative and emergent maintenance on highly specialized equipment, including hot cells, glove boxes, manipulators, and other systems essential to medical isotope production and research activities.

The unique environment of MURR requires strict adherence to complex security, health, and safety protocols. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a highly regulated, technical setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine and emergent maintenance on production and research equipment to ensure continued and uninterrupted operations.
  • Maintain and repair hot cells, manipulators, glove boxes, and associated mechanical systems.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance inside glove boxes and on glove box equipment.
  • Maintain accurate and current documentation of all maintenance activities and repairs.
  • Manage spare parts inventory and ensure critical components are stocked and available.
  • Identify opportunities for improvements in maintenance processes and methods; propose and support implementation of approved changes.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues efficiently while maintaining strict adherence to safety and security requirements.
  • Support the overall maintenance function to ensure the Research Reactor can reliably fulfill its mission.

Working Conditions:

  • Work is performed in a secure, highly regulated laboratory and reactor environment.
  • Must be able to work in confined spaces, wear protective equipment, and lift/move moderately heavy equipment or materials.
  • Occasional after-hours or on-call work may be required in response to emergent maintenance needs.

Shift

Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm, 40 Hours per week

Minimum Qualifications

A high school diploma or equivalent and the ability to lift 50 lbs. is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

Mechanical aptitude is preferred. Maintenance experience preferred.

Anticipated Hiring Range

Hiring Salary: $27.00 per hour
Grade: GGS MKT
