DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this vital position, you will lead and manage a team of skilled workers who operate heavy construction machinery and utilize hand tools for various highway maintenance activities. Your responsibilities will encompass repairing cracks and potholes, stabilizing shoulders, installing and maintaining drainage systems, setting up guide rails, sweeping roadways, collecting litter, widening roads, addressing and resolving complaints, and coordinating emergency responses to snow, ice, storm damage, or accidents. Furthermore, you will investigate highway-related issues, respond effectively, and maintain road log records to assess conditions in your designated area, aiding in the prioritization and planning of work operations and estimates.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of experience as a Highway Foreman 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Two years of experience in the performance of lead work or skilled tradesman duties on a highway maintenance or construction project; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
Special Requirement:
  • This position requires possession of a valid Class C Pennsylvania Driver's License.

Additional Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
