This is an exciting role in the Jack Henry Payments division that's geared towards leading a team technically to solutions for our bill pay product offering. We're seeking a strong advocate of Agile software development as the means for delivering high-quality solutions and thrives in a culture of continuous learning.

Our ideal candidate demonstrates the ability to look at the big picture for the products they support and break down complex and engaging problems for optimal execution with their team. They approach problems with a 'beginner's mind' and an absence of bias when thinking through solutions. They should have a strong innovative spirit, with a history of demonstrating how they're nimble, forward-thinking, and always asking 'What if?' when approaching problems. They should value truth and data over ego and want to have fun while collaborating with their team.

Our team is distributed, which means you can live and work anywhere within the US. You will need to work standard Eastern Time business hours for optimal collaboration with team members. You will get the chance to continuously find and execute on improvements that heighten efficiencies of your tasks while leveraging the newest technologies available to do so.

This position is to be worked remotely within the United States.

You may be required to travel up to 10% for meetings or trainings.

What you'll be responsible for:

  • Lead a team technically to create solutions within Jack Henry's bill pay products that enhance the user experience and drive adoption.
  • Commit to doing whatever it takes to ensure quality product delivery including test case reviews, test case writing, manual testing, unit testing, performance testing and test automation, as needed.
  • Evaluate the viability of new technologies and architecture patterns.
  • Work in an Agile environment using modern methodologies and open-source tools.
  • Pair/mob program with agile team members to support all development.
  • Provide constructive feedback and mentorship through code reviews.
  • Work and collaborate with both business and technical teams who love to solve real problems.
  • Follow and advocate for our coding and testing standards to help drive quality.
  • Continuously learn full stack development as the technology rapidly evolves.
  • Ensure appropriate technical documentation is created and maintained.
  • May perform other job duties as assigned.

What you'll need to have:

  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in full stack development.
  • Proficient in C# and .Net.
  • Proficient in web development.
  • Proficient in consuming and integrating to API's (SOAP, REST, JSON or XML).
  • Proficient in writing new API's.
  • Experience and working knowledge with databases (MS SQL and MySQL).
  • Experience leading the process for breaking problems into smaller, individual units of work and estimate timing.
  • Experience mentoring/coaching more junior team members.
  • Experience in Agile/Scrum software development.

What would be nice for you to have:

  • Experience with developing cloud-based web applications (preferably with AWS).
  • Experience with React.
  • Experience with containers (Docker/Kubernetes, Heroku).
  • Experience with event-driven architecture.
  • Experience with Git for source code management and version control.
  • Experience in payments/financial industry.
