Job Summary The Director, Government Affairs & Policy - US will play a key role in the development and execution of public policy initiatives that support Fresenius Kabi's corporate objectives in the United States. This individual will monitor relevant policy developments at both the federal and state levels and serve as the coordinator for priority policy issues. The Director will help formulate strategic approaches and implement tactical plans to engage Congress, the White House, and federal agencies in advancing Fresenius Kabi's public policy priorities.

*Salary Range: $175,000-$200,000
*Position is eligible to participate in an annual bonus plan with a target of 16% of the base salary.
*Position is eligible to participate in our medium-term incentive plan.
*Final pay determinations will depend on various factors, including, but not limited to experience level, education, knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Responsibilities
  • Advise Executive Leadership: Serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership on U.S. policy matters, building and maintaining strategic relationships with senior appointees, key executives, and staff at federal agencies such as OMB, HHS, CMS, and FDA.
  • Lead Federal Lobbying Efforts: Lead and implement effective lobbying strategies on behalf of Fresenius Kabi, Inc. by establishing and maintaining trusted, professional relationships with Members of Congress, congressional staff, executive branch officials, and federal agency personnel.
  • Engage with Trade Associations: Develop and sustain strong relationships with key trade associations and actively participate in relevant staff-level work groups to advocate for the company's policy objectives.
  • Monitor and Analyze Policy Developments: Track and analyze federal and state legislative, regulatory, and policy developments that may impact the company's strategic goals, ensuring timely and informed decision-making.
  • Represent the Company Externally: Actively engage in external meetings, forums, and conferences to elevate the profile of Fresenius Kabi, Inc. and represent its interests effectively.
  • Develop Advocacy Strategy: Collaborate with the Senior Vice President of U.S. Government Affairs to develop and execute a comprehensive lobbying and advocacy strategy aligned with business objectives.
  • Provide Strategic Counsel: Offer strategic guidance to corporate leadership and senior management on legislative and regulatory issues; serve as a key point of contact for inquiries from internal stakeholders.
  • Drive Policy Impact Assessments: Lead cross-functional collaboration to assess the quantitative and qualitative impact of proposed policies, delivering actionable insights and recommendations to business leaders.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree in public health, policy or law desired.
  • 10+ years' experience in government and/or government affairs or health policy with at least 5 years in positions of increasing responsibility and experience in the pharmaceutical/health care industry.
  • Ability to provide strategic counsel, often under pressure, to senior leaders on policy and government affairs.
  • Strong political acumen to effectively build sustainable relationships and establish positive corporate identity.
  • Proven contact network, involvement and success in influencing the development of federal legislation and/or regulatory process.
  • Skilled at advocacy, influence and persuasion; able to convince others to act on information or recommendations based on compelling logic and/or common best interests
  • Proven ability to understand and clearly communicate complex and technical topics simply and succinctly.
  • Successful candidates will have strong analytical, written, presentation and communication skills as well as comprehensive understanding of the legislative and policy process.
  • Experience establishing and maintaining relationships with individuals in an organization at all levels, the business community, elected officials, and lobbyists.
  • A track record of successful development of policy or regulatory strategies within the healthcare/pharmaceutical space.
