Director of Market Development

Summary:

The Director of Market Development is responsible for actively identifying and developing treatment growth opportunities within a defined region, through effective strategic planning and execution. The director is a catalyst for the continued growth of IRC, focusing on promotion of the organization and its services to increase utilization in existing center locations, developing partnership opportunities with health systems, physician practices, payors, and industry trade organizations/networks, and advancing de novo projects.

Position Type, Expected Hours of Work & Travel:

This is a Full-Time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Position may require responsibilities outside of typical business hours. Travel may be frequent, up to 60% of the time, and is often outside the local area and overnight.

Essential Functions

  • Collaborate with executive leadership on strategic planning to achieve organizational goals that expand market reach and increase both patient census and treatment volume.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with affiliated and non-affiliated nephrologists to recognize growth opportunities. Engage with regional nephrology fellowship programs to increase awareness of IRC clinics and opportunities with affiliated nephrology practices.
  • Engage with social workers/discharge planners at local hospitals and skilled nursing facilities to increase awareness of IRC clinics, chair availability, and admission procedures.
  • Develop close relationships and communications with regional and operational management to implement growth initiatives.
  • Identify prospecting needs and align with internal teams to create resources that facilitate activities, engagement, utilization, and conversion.
  • Participate in local events and national renal meetings (e.g. ASN, NRAA and subchapters), and nursing home or hospital association meetings as appropriate to develop new relationships and leads for new business opportunities.
  • Prepare feasibility reports, competitive demographic analyses, Profit & Loss forecasts and make recommendations for business growth opportunities.
  • Identify opportunities through networking, cold calling, and grassroots initiatives to effectively communicate value and generate increased referrals, acute/post-acute contracts, and center growth by developing and maintaining relationships with nephrologists, health system leaders, discharge planners, social workers, and other audiences that generate leads for the dialysis centers.
  • Review and analyze financial statements when necessary.
  • Continually stay abreast of industry trends, competitors, and local landscape.
  • Lead new projects and initiatives as business needs change and strategy evolves.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A minimum of 2-5 years' experience in sales or market development within healthcare, preferably the dialysis segment.
  • Business development knowledge from prospecting through contract execution and implementation.
  • Superior interpersonal skills with proven track record of developing and maintaining positive relationships.
  • Strong written and oral presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and strategically to assess market conditions.
