Overview

Rapiscan, an OSI Systems Company is seeking a Finance Co-Op Student, based out of Billerica, MA.

Rapiscan Systems, an OSI Systems, Inc. company, designs, manufactures and markets security and inspection systems worldwide. Our products are used to inspect baggage, cargo, people, vehicles and other objects for weapons, explosives, drugs and other contraband. Rapiscan Systems security and inspection devices can be found in a wide range of locations such as airports, border crossings, railway stations, seaports and terminals, government and military installations, and nuclear facilities.

The role involves supporting core accounting operations, including booking journal entries, assisting with month-end close activities, and preparing account reconciliations. The position requires learning and navigating the ERP system, understanding the chart of accounts, and ensuring proper documentation for journal entries and reconciliations.

Key responsibilities include performing intercompany reconciliations, ensuring SOX compliance, and monitoring accruals and source transactions for timeliness. The role also supports the tax department with state business and use tax filings and collaborates with business partners to track and manage departmental spending.

Additional duties involve generating spending reports and transaction-level summaries from reporting systems to identify and correct misclassified or missing expenses. The position also includes responding to year-end audit requests and ensuring auditor requirements are met.


Responsibilities

  • Book journal entries, assist with month-end close, and prepare account reconciliations
  • Learn how the ERP system works to book journals, how is the chart of accounts structured, what is required to book a journal-including documentation, what is required to complete and account recon.
  • Inter company reconciliations and SOX compliance
  • Complete an intercompany reconciliation with several other internal organizations, will monitor for accruals to be booked. Will be required to check that source transactions are booked timely.
  • Assisting tax department in state tax filings for business and use tax, and working with business partners to monitor and address departmental spending.
  • Pull spending reports from our reporting system, as well as how to pull transaction level information from the ERP to create spending summaries for business leaders and to check for missing/incorrectly classified expenses
  • Respond to year-end audit requests and how to satisfy the auditors with those requests.
  • Demonstrate behavior consistent with the Company's Code of Ethics and Conduct.

Qualifications

  • Enrolled in an accredited program for Bachelor of Business or Accounting or similar field.
  • Ability to work with limited supervision.
  • Strong communication skills and willingness to lead in front of a team
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Strong proactive communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Microsoft Word, Excel and Project
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Ability to demonstrate effective hands-on learning
