Specialist, Facilities Compliance Specialist
Job Description: The Role: Our site in San Luis Obispo, CA.is seeking a Facilities Compliance Specialist. The Facilities Compliance Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring the operational integrity and regulatory compliance of plant-based systems. Working closely with the EHS team, this position supports safety, environmental sustainability, and facility readiness. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, safety-conscious, and capable of responding to facility issues with urgency and professionalism. This role requires hands-on technical skills, strong documentation practices, and the ability to collaborate across departments What You'll Do:
- Monitor assets regarding security measures, maintain the security network, and ensure it remains functional, including daily maintenance. Act as the primary point of contact with the security/fire monitoring service. Maintain an employee roster with door access and building security, and ensure an accurate roster is prepared as part of the plant's Emergency Action Plan.
- Manage building access systems, including door locks, badge controls, security systems, access codes, and issuance and maintenance of door access badges.
- Assist the Manager, Facilities, in development of long/short range plans, conceptual designs, layout requirements, and documentation for the facility.
- Work with both EHS and Facilities to create sustainability opportunities.
- Document and report annual waste quantities, including utilities, paper, general waste, and wood-related debris.
- Work annually to create opportunities for water and energy consumption reductions.
- Ensure that fuel containers and propane tanks are certified and within specifications, and manage hydro testing as needed.
- Conduct monthly inspections of emergency breathing apparatus and related items, including hydro testing and refills.
- Manage monthly inspection, calibration, and repair of atmospheric monitors.
- Maintain emergency facilities equipment, including emergency lights, eye wash and shower stations, fire suppression equipment, and first aid supplies.
- Manage, improve, implement cameras throughout the site, work with global IT to make sure infrastructure is operational.
- Assist with contractor safety packets and new contractor onboarding.
- Coordinate with contractors on specific projects.
- Manage necessary inventories through purchasing software.
- Contribute to and lead department safety meetings and briefings.
- Create capital projects as needed, related to job requirements.
- Assist EHS with various plant issues.
- Be available on a 24-hour call basis to address building downtime situations as needed.
- Any other duties as assigned.
What We Seek:
- Mechanical abilities for equipment service and repair.
- Position requires significant physical activity, including lifting, climbing, and working in confined spaces.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office or equivalent (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Knowledge of production/maintenance software (e.g., SAP).
- Must be able to read and write fluently in English.
- Ability to build strong, influential relationships and collaborate effectively with people in a variety of functions (internally and externally).
- Ability to assess compliance via standards and interpretations as well as to define solutions to correct deficiencies and gaps.
- Understanding of root cause analysis, applying effective corrective actions, and verification/validation of effectiveness.
- Experience in hazardous waste management and familiarity with DOT Hazardous Materials regulations is a plus.

- Compensation: $79,000-$87,000/yr range with actual pay dependent on candidate overall skills for the role.
