GENERAL DESCRIPTION / PRIMARY PURPOSE:


The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for leading the shift maintenance personnel and ensuring all maintenance work and scheduled PM's are completed in a timely fashion, under the direction of the Maintenance Manager. Maintenance activities must ensure that employee health and safety, product safety, and the protection of the environment are never compromised, and that all maintenance activities enhance product quality, plant performance, and the business objectives.



MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS/DUTIES OF THE POSITION:

* Assist work group in troubleshooting, operating, and maintaining production systems and facilities systems at times which include refrigeration equipment, boilers, fire systems, HVAC equipment, wastewater, compressed air equipment, vacuum pump system, high voltage switch gear, and all production equipment. Lead root cause and lean exercises helping to impact production uptime and quality.
* Champion the site safety objectives through leadership and effective communications. Assist Site Leadership and Safety Management Representative in the implementation of any safety related projects, upgrades, or improvements. Ensure there exists within the maintenance team an attitude of absolute intolerance for unsafe situations.
* Assist work group to implement and monitor an effective PM program and monitor the program on existing equipment and new equipment acquisitions. Ensure that work orders and work assignments are completed in a timely fashion by the maintenance department.
* Oversee the operation and tracking of the parts room and maintain the required inventory of spare parts. Maintain a record of equipment repair costs.
* Maintain good human relations skills, communication skills, and leadership qualities with supervisors, peers, and subordinates.
* Direct, coordinate, and manage scheduled maintenance and machine changeovers in conjunction with scheduled production.
* Assist group in developing and meeting training needs and develop overall programs to upgrade operating and maintenance skills and effectiveness.
* Prepare studies and carry out assignments as requested by Engineering and Maintenance Manager. Be available for assisting with specific assignments within the Engineering and Maintenance department.
* Assist with planning of the annual maintenance and repair budget while assisting in the preparation of the annual investment budget and maintaining M&R budget.
* Supervise contractors as assigned by Maintenance Manager.
* Maintain dialogue with counterparts at other Dole facilities to benefit from experiences and design proposals.
* Responsible to review and evaluate personnel concerning performance, safety, and training.
* Follow all food safety requirements and GMP's guidelines


Required Skills

JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES:

* Minimum 3 years' experience in a technical field, preferably in food manufacturing or consumer goods industry, including Maintenance responsibilities.
* Strong technical and managerial skills.
* In-depth knowledge of food processing plant and technology.
* Strong knowledge of maintenance technologies and operation of utilities.
* Knowledge of food safety, regulatory requirements for food safety and hygienic engineering (OSH&R).
* Strong analytical skills and problem-solving skills.
* Excellent written, verbal communication and relationship-building skills.
* Understanding of financial analysis and relevant business drivers.
* Knowledge of Asset and Maintenance Management (AMM) and Industrial Services and Energy Management (NEMT).
* Ability to troubleshoot complex systems/problems.
* Ability to report to work promptly and regularly, work under the supervision of others, at times under stressful conditions, work within deadlines, and be able to work professionally with others at all times and in all situations.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

* Must have the ability to maneuver around an array of equipment. Must be able to bend, stoop, kneel, climb ladders and/or stairs.
* Will have some exposure to fumes and airborne particles.
* Must be able to work in a cold environment.


WORK HOUR & TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

* Must have the ability to work overtime and weekends.
* Ability to travel as needed.


Required Experience

EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:

* Bachelor's degree preferred, ideally in Engineering (mechanical, electrical, chemical or process engineering) or Management
* Or 3-5 years equivalent experience as a supervisor or lead in a manufacturing environment


PAY RATE:



  • $82,500 - $90,000
