Overview
BigBear.ai is seeking a skilled and proactive Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A Analyst) to support financial planning, forecasting, reporting, and business analysis at both the corporate and operational levels. This mid-level role is ideal for someone with a solid foundation in finance and a proven ability to independently manage budgeting cycles, financial reporting, and cross-functional collaboration. You will be instrumental in turning financial data into actionable insights that help drive strategic decision-making and improve business performance. The ideal candidate has strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to effectively communicate financial insights to both finance and non-finance stakeholders. You will support key forecasting processes, maintain financial models, and partner closely with business units to ensure financial transparency and performance.
What you will do
Financial Planning and Forecasting
- Lead components of the annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting processes
- Develop and refine revenue, operating expense, or cash flow forecasts in coordination with business units
- Maintain and enhance financial models that support long-range planning and scenario analysis
Financial Reporting and Analysis
- Deliver timely and accurate monthly reporting packages including actuals vs. budget/forecast analysis
- Identify and explain key business drivers behind financial variances
- Track and analyze performance against key financial and operational KPIs
Business Partner Support
- Serve as a finance partner to department leaders by providing financial insights and decision support
- Evaluate business cases, investment proposals, and cost-saving initiatives in collaboration with stakeholders
- Support operational efficiency projects by providing financial impact analysis
Financial Modeling and Data Reporting
- Build and manage dynamic models to support business planning and decision-making
- Create and distribute recurring reports and dashboards to business leaders
- Perform ad-hoc analysis to evaluate business trends and strategic initiatives
Month-End and Financial Close Support
- Collaborate with Accounting and Program Finance during the monthly close process to ensure accuracy of reported results
- Investigate financial variances and update forecasts based on latest performance and trends
- Assist in preparing internal reports and audit support documentation as needed
Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to enhance planning, forecasting, and reporting processes
- Contribute to automation initiatives and process documentation
- Stay current on financial tools and best practices in corporate FP&A
What you need to have
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field
- 3-5 years of progressive experience in FP&A, corporate finance, or related fields
- Proficiency in Excel and financial modeling; experience with planning (e.g., Adaptive, Anaplan, Oracle, TM1) or data visualization (e.g. PowerBI) tools a plus
- Strong understanding of financial statements and business metrics
- Effective communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally and present insights clearly
- Highly organized and detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- Proactive mindset with a willingness to take ownership of tasks and contribute to team goals
