Director, Technology Innovation

First Merchants Bank is seeking a Director of Technology Innovation to join our team! This position will drive business growth and competitive advantage by leading the creation and execution of innovation strategies that enhance client and employee experiences, streamline processes, and leverage emerging technologies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage the innovation process from idea generation to implementation, ensuring alignment with the company's strategic goals.
• Oversee the identification and evaluation of emerging technologies, with a focus on generative AI, Microsoft Copilot, software development and automation platforms.
• Serve as the enterprise lead for Microsoft Copilot deployment, overseeing agent design, training, and adoption.
• Collaborate across departments to pilot, validate, and deploy innovation initiatives that improve client and employee experiences.
• Establish and monitor key performance indicators for innovative projects, ensuring continuous improvement and business alignment.
• Ensure innovation initiatives meet business case, policy, regulatory, and security standards.
• Create and facilitate workshops, innovation communities, and labs to foster a culture of experimentation and improvement.
• Maintain documentation of innovation roadmaps, use cases, and outcomes.
• Build and maintain relationships with external partners, startups, and thought leaders to enhance the company's innovation ecosystem.
• Promote continuous improvement and agile practices to enhance processes and deliver high-quality products.

To be successful in this position we require the following:

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, management information systems or related field.
• A minimum of ten (10) years of experience in a senior technology leadership role.
• A minimum of ten (10) years of experience in a banking environment.
