The Automation Engineering Technician II/III/Sr will directly support the Automation Engineering function in new and maintenance project construction/commissioning, execution of approved hardware/software changes and providing field operations support.

The Automation Engineering Technician II/III/Srresponsibilities include but arenot limited to:



  • Complete compressor and pipeline facility commissioning tasks to support new facility TILs as well as modifications of existing facilities.
  • Gather onsite technical data for Automation Engineers and Compression Design Engineers relative to capital project assignments, specifically related to automated equipment.
  • Perform HMI & PLC software revisions and updates as directed by the Automation Engineers, including changes in configuration, logic, displays and security parameters.
  • Provide technical support to Operations I&C technicians in troubleshooting and diagnosing operational problems at various facilities.
  • Provide guidance to Operations I&C techs in troubleshooting PLC logic and instrumentation issues in operating facilities.
  • Implementation of Cyber Security policies (deploys firmware & password updates as required on automation hardware).
  • Administer I&C technician training programs that have been prepared and approved by Automation Engineers to equip I&C techs to support various control system equipment.



Required Experience and Skills:



  • Associate's degree in electrical, chemical, civil, mechanical, or petroleum engineering; or in a math, science or closely related field.
  • 4+ years of related experience.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Knowledge and application of automation and control system concepts, fundamentals & theory.
  • Specific understanding and experience with Modicon (Schneider) PLCs, Allen Bradley PLC's and RedLion HMI's.
  • Understanding and experience working with AC/DC, digital, and analog circuits (both design and troubleshooting)
  • Basic experience in configuration and data exchange with RTUs (Thermo Fisher, ABB, Eagle)
  • Understanding of communication protocols (RS232/485, Ethernet, Modbus)
  • Ability to think analytically and solve moderately complex problems.
  • Intermediate computer skills and effective application of software programs.
  • Ability to contribute in a team environment.
  • Effective communication skills and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to adhere to predefined work plans and meet required deadlines.



Work Location:This position includes a hybrid work arrangement, including remote collaboration (30-40% of the time), and regular field support across the asset footprint (60-70% of the time).


Selected incumbent will be placed into the position that best suits their abilities and experience level.
