DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As an Equipment Operator A, you will be responsible and accountable for operating buses, trucks, mowers and other vehicles and equipment as needed to support the overall facility goal of maintaining a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for individuals and staff. Excellent attention to detail is vital in order to maintain accurate daily inspections of the monthly mileage reports, as well as to conduct pre-trip inspections of assigned equipment. This professional will utilize a wide-range of hand tools in the completion of projects. Additional duties may entail tending to grounds works such as plowing snow, cleaning sidewalks, and spraying weeds.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours/week.
  • Work hours are 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM with a 30-minute lunch. This position involves rotating shifts which may include some weekends.
  • Overtime and travel as needed.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Six months experience in the operation and maintenance of large vans, buses and single-chassis trucks with a gross vehicle weight of 10,001 pounds or more; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

Special Requirements:

  • This position requires possession of a valid Class C Pennsylvania driver's license.

Conditions of Employment:

  • This position requires that candidates possess a valid Class B Commercial Drivers License (CDL) with air brake endorsement at hire.
  • You must obtain passenger endorsement to your Class B CDL within six months of employment.

Other Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
    • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
