Performs a variety of tasks related to providing Adult Basic Education and High School Equivalency (HSE/GED) instruction to Arapahoe/Douglas Works! One Stop Center customers. Arapahoe/Douglas Works is a grant-funded organization that has operated successfully for over 40 years. All positions are subject to grant funding availability.

Duties
-
- Manages student caseload based upon program demand, including accurate tracking of activities, services, and expenses.
- Assess students' eligibility and current education level to determine direction of individual plan for successful completion of a GED.
- Conducts orientation for all new students enrolling in classes.
- Provide both in person and remote ABE and GED/HSE instruction to students, which may include rolling enrollment and cohort style classes.
- Develops and maintains working knowledge of techniques for teaching and tutoring Adult Basic Education and GED Preparation including subjects of math, social studies, language arts and science.
- Coordinates with all Workforce Development Programs to provide guidance and instruction to customers with respect to all aspects of the adult Basic Education and GED/HSE process and help facilitate enrollment into other workforce programs.
- Responsible for outreach, marketing and creating processes to recruit Adult Basic Education and GED/HSE customers, including from community partners and workforce development programs.
- Prepares individual or group plans with clients to effect remediation of job-related barriers and/or deficiencies, carries out one-on-one job counseling and job coaching.
- Complete required data entry into LACES including, but not limited to, attendance records, progress towards obtaining a GED/HSE, and education outcomes. Additionally, work with the Program Supervisor and Quality Assurance team to ensure all data entry is accurate.
- Engage in on-going professional development and accessibility improvements.

Requirements

Education and Experience:
- High School diploma or GED equivalent, AA, or two-year certificate.
Or
- Two (2) years of specialized academic training in one of the designated fields* (60 academic credit hours or a combination of academic credit hours and specialized training equaling 200 classroom hours).
- *Teaching, Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Counseling
And
- Two (2) years of experience working with economically, culturally, or socially disadvantaged clients in the context of tutoring, teaching, job counseling, vocational education, vocational or pre-employment assessment, Workforce Development, vocational rehabilitation or related field.
An equivalent combination of education and work experience that satisfy the requirements of the job may be sufficient.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- B.A. Degree in Teaching, Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Counseling, or related field
- Experience teaching/tutoring Adult Basic Education and/or the four core GED subjects

Pre-Employment Additional Requirements:
- Must successfully pass pre-employment testing which includes an acceptable motor vehicle record (MVR) and background check.

- Work is generally confined to a standard office environment.

- Spends 50% of the time sitting and 50% of the time either upright or walking.

- Constant use of eye, hand and finger coordination enabling the use of automated office machinery or equipment.
- Visual capacity enabling constant use of computer or other work-related equipment.
