JOB SUMMARY

The primary responsibility of the Mold Changer is remove and install tool molds in plastic injection molding machines. Set up molding machines to the prescribed process set up.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Comply with Safety Policies and Procedures
  • Remove and install molds in plastic injection molding machines.
  • Set up machines for continuous production by positioning and aligning mold, connecting water, hydraulics, and air feeds as required.
  • Adjust machine control settings to prescribed setup for the part.
  • Shut down molding machines by performing proper lockout procedures, purging material, removing die from machine, etc.
  • Complete required documentation such as tool change reports and production logs accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Work toward continuous improvement of all mold change and machine set up procedures.
  • Must keep toolbox by 5s standards
  • Must abide by all company policy and procedures
  • Must be willing to perform all other duties when assigned
  • Regular attendance, timeliness and scheduling flexibility

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

The employee should have the following:

  • Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent. Some technical training in related field or associates degree preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision in a fast paced environment.
  • Must have a valid Driver's License.
  • Ability to operate forklift and obtain forklift license
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Two or more years of experience and familiarity with die setting procedures.
  • Knowledgeable of proper use of hand tools to set molds/dies.
  • Ability to operate and obtain certification for operating overhead cranes.

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Prolong standing or in stationary position
  • Complete repetitive movements
  • Be exposed to sounds or noise levels that maybe uncomfortable
  • Wear all required personal protective equipment (hearing, vision and hardhat protection)
  • Lift/move/transport items up to 75 pounds
  • Ability to move or traverse about the facilities
  • Must be able to ascend/descend stairs or ladders
  • Ability to work around dust, chemicals, and other substances, and in various environmental conditions
