DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Food Inspector 2, you will be responsible for conducting sanitation inspections of seasonal farm labor camps and food facilities such as wholesale, retail, manufacturing, and warehousing in the assigned regional area. This professional must maintain a comprehensive working knowledge of the laws, regulations, policies, and food safety and security guidelines during inspections and investigations to evaluate foods and food facilities while determining compliance. Excellent attention to detail is vital as you must record accurate data, findings, and conditions in a thorough and precise manner in order for management to take appropriate corrective actions. You will also be tasked with evaluating and approving or disapproving plan reviews for new construction, remodeled facilities, and change of ownerships to determine compliance with all applicable rules and regulations. Effective communication skills are utilized in the preparation, representation, and presentation of cases for the Commonwealth at court proceedings. Interested in learning more? - Full-time employment
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- This position requires occasional overtime for training and facilities operating on non work days and outside of work hours.
- Occasional overnight travel may be required.
- This position will be home headquartered if the applicant lives in Franklin, Adams, York, or Cumberland County. If the applicant does not live in one of these counties, the state vehicle will be parked in one of these counties or at the Regional Office in Dauphin County.
- The selected candidate will need to travel to counties other then those listed on this posting to assist with coverage of various specialty inspection types, specifically Dairy and Milk regulated facilities.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year as a Food Inspector 1, Agriculture (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
- Two years of experience in the inspection of food establishments or food processing facilities, and a bachelor's degree in food science, food technology, or a closely related field; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Special Requirements:
- This position requires possession of an active motor vehicle license.
