Location: Poolesville, Maryland (National Institutes of Health Animal Center)

Type: Non-Exempt

Compensation: $32.95-$32.95/hour

Work Schedule: Full-Time, Evening, Overnight Shifts, and Weekends

Tessera is seeking an experienced and reliable General Maintenance Worker III with a positive attitude.

Typical duties include but are not limited to:

  • Painting, carpentry, siding repairs/replacement, glass replacement in doors and windows, minor plumbing, masonry, concrete repairs, and minor electrical work. Clean roof drains and gutters.

  • Replacing electrical receptacles and switches, fixtures, and bathroom exhaust fan motors.

  • Using plaster or compound to patch minor holes and cracks in walls or ceilings.

  • Repairing or replacing sinks, water coolers, and toilets. Caulking plumbing kitchen fixtures.

  • Repairing or replacing concrete floors, steps, decks, stoops, and sidewalks.

  • Communicating directly with the customer and supervisors; informing the customer of unexpected or additional repairs and determining customer needs.

  • Responding to customer inquiries and complaints.

  • Provide diagnoses and suggest solutions and repairs to customers and supervisors.

  • Follow safety procedures and policies while exercising judgment, flexibility, creativity, and sensitivity in response to changing situations and needs and safety procedures.

  • Act as a positive representative of the company and maintain professionalism in appearance, attitude, and demeanor.

  • Responsible for entering all work order data into Maximo.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of eight (8) year of Facilities/Grounds Maintenance is preferred; Equivalent combination of experience and education allowed.

  • Knowledge of painting, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, and electrical work preferred.

Physical Requirements:

Employees must have the ability to perform the following physical demands for extended periods of time with or without assistance. The physical demands of this position may be reasonably accommodated for individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions on a case-by-case basis.

  • Position duties require working outside in the weather. Conditions may include rain, cold and/or heat.
  • Perform heavy manual labor for extended periods of time.
  • Must have the perseverance to work effectively under pressure for extended periods of time.

Requirements:

  • Valid state driver's license is required with the ability to obtain and maintain coverage by Tessera's insurance carrier.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain applicable security clearances and installation access. A background check and E-Verify will be conducted for this position.
