The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. Position Summary
This full-time Research Genetic Counselor will work closely with Dr. Posey in her scientific laboratory, and will provide assistance with the research genetic testing, clinical and molecular data analysis of patients enrolled in her rare disease research studies.

Responsibilities
- Conduct detailed phenotypic review and characterization of rare disease cases, including integration of clinical data, medical records, and family history.
- Participate in gene discovery studies by evaluating families with suspected Mendelian disease, focusing on cases that remain unsolved after routine clinical testing.
- Receive training in the analysis of long-read genome sequencing data (e.g., Oxford Nanopore, PacBio HiFi) to identify structural variants, repeat expansions, phasing anomalies, and other variant classes of interest.
- Collaborate with bioinformatics staff, clinical geneticists, and trainees in the laboratory to evaluate candidate variants, genes, and molecular mechanisms.
- Contributes to manuscript preparation, conference presentations, and other scientific communications.
- Participate in weekly lab meetings, data review sessions, and journal clubs.
- Performs related duties & responsibilities as assigned/requested.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience required; plus four years of related experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Must have a Master's degree.
- Must be Board-certified in Genetic Counseling or be Board-eligible.
- Consistently strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build and sustain effective working relationships with professionals in other disciplines.
