Serve as the responsible party for the safe transport of faculty, staff, and students between campus and the Lab of Ornithology via the Lab shuttle. 3 to 5 shuttle runs are provided Monday through Friday throughout the day during the academic year. Serves as the primary team member who receive, sort and deliver all incoming packages via Federal Express, UPS and USPS. Perform vehicle inspections, compile statistics, and file written reports as required. In a service-oriented environment, provide a range of customer service to faculty, staff, and students by receiving, sorting, and delivering all incoming packages via Federal Express, UPS and USPS. Ensure the safe delivery of documents, packages and occasional confidential or valuable materials to and from campus. Adhere to safety requirements and comply with hygiene and apparel standards, no open toed shoes. Maintain and operate the Lab's mail room as schedule permits, prepare letters and packages for mailing, and deliver mail and packages throughout the building. This position involves continual contact with the Cornell community, the Lab of Ornithology, and its visitors. The incumbent will be expected to be diplomatic, courteous, and welcoming, and be able to anticipate passenger needs. Set up and dismantling of tables, chairs, risers, podium etc. in meeting and public areas for conferences, workshops, seminars & meetings to accommodate public and departmental events. This may be required before, during or after events. This appointment coincides with the academic terms. From August 16th to May 20th this position will be full time. From May 21st to August 15th, this position will be 20 hours a week. The typical working hours for this position will be Monday - Friday, 9am - 5:30pm with the occasional requirement to work evenings or weekends as needed for event support. Visa Sponsorship is not available for this position. Relocation assistance will not be provided for this position. This position is part of the United Auto Workers (UAW) union. The current rate of pay is listed in the collective bargaining agreement.
