Job Summary

PRCS - Uniting Communities through Individuals, Parks, and Programs. Loudoun County's Department of Parks, Recreation, and Community Services is seeking qualified candidates for a full-time Program Specialist position at Claude Moore Park. Established in 1990, this distinctive park has been catering to the Sterling area and its surroundings throughout the year. Spanning 357 acres, it offers a diverse mix of natural areas, camping, and sports activities. The park is adjacent to two major roads, a planned residential community, and Park View High School. This setting is ideal for both passive and active pursuits, catering to a diverse range of demographics in the Sterling region. If you possess experience in camp programming, event management, nature activities, or working with natural resources, this could be the opportunity you seek. Effective communication, problem-solving skills, and adaptability are essential leadership traits for this role. A successful applicant must be capable of multitasking and collaborating with stakeholders of all ages.

We are currently hiring for the following location(s):
* Claude Moore Park, Sterling, VA

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
* Collaborates directly with the park naturalist and customer service assistant to execute programs, special events, camps, workshops, and classes.
* Hires and provides training for program staff, camp staff, and specialized instructors.
* Develops camp schedule, special event plans, and volunteer projects.
* Serves as an intermediary between community associations and park attendees to handle visitor feedback and offers assistance with park-wide activities and special events.
* Develops customer service evaluation standards, methods, and tools; incorporates evaluation data into future operations planning.
* Assist with the development and management of camp and special event budget operations.
* May carry out additional critical job responsibilities pertinent to the role and departmental allocation.

* The work schedule is subject to change based on operational hours and may encompass weekdays, evenings, weekends, and potentially holidays. *


Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent; two years of related work experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in recreation or environmental science.
* At least one year of supervisory experience
* At least one year of experience working with recreation programs, summer camp, or special events.


Job Contingencies and Special Requirements

Must undergo criminal, credit, and DMV background checks. A valid driver's license and a good driving record are required. The driving record of an individual may be reviewed annually for qualification purposes. At the time of hire or within four (4) months of employment, hold First Aid/CPR certifications.
