Position: Assistant Counsel Location: Mercy Virtual Center - Elbridge Chesterfield Shift: FT Days 40/hrs per week We're a Little Different Our mission is clear. Overview: Under general oversight, this position will have responsibility to provide subject matter expertise in one or more routine areas, such as particular aspects of health system operations, support to community-level committees or task forces, management of due diligence or transaction documentation, and some oversight of Staff Attorneys. Functional areas include a broad range of legal areas affecting Mercys services and operations such as antitrust, tax, employment law, physician practice acquisitions; hospital operational support; health care risk management; clinical-related issues; regulatory compliance; medical staff and accreditation; clinical affiliation agreements; managed care contracting; real estate and construction; and health care reform and reimbursement and/or legal governance support for one or more Mercy affiliates. Under supervision, development of subject matter expertise on one or more complex functions is expected. This position will be expected to carry out legal project, transaction or task force implementations as directed. Qualifications: Education: Doctorate of Jurisprudence. - Membership in the state of practice Bar or eligibility for immediate admission - Three to five (5) or more years' experience as a practicing attorney with at least three (3) years of health care experience and specialized experience in one of more of the following areas: antitrust, tax, employment law, physician practice acquisitions; hospital operational support; health care risk management; clinical-related issues; regulatory compliance; medical staff and accreditation; clinical affiliation agreements; managed care contracting; real estate and construction; and health care reform and reimbursement. - Excellent oral and written communication skills.
