Cornell Cooperative Extension (CCE) provides the educational outreach functions for Cornell University's role as New York State's Land Grant University. The Northwest New York Dairy, Livestock and Field Crops Program provides opportunities and information to producers, processors, and agri-business professionals, arming them with the knowledge to profitably for dairy, field crop and livestock operations, contributing to the viability of farms and the economic well-being of New York State. What You Will Do As the Small Farms and Livestock Specialist, you will deliver an integrated educational program to operators/owners of small farms, specifically those with less than $250,000 gross income in the region. You will provide commercial producers, associated industries, and beginning farmers with the knowledge and educational resources in livestock production and management. Additionally, you will collaborate in the development and delivery of educational programs with colleagues. Other responsibilities include:
What We Need We are looking for a dynamic individual who excels at building relationships with multiple stakeholders to identify and address industry needs. We need someone who appreciates small farms in New York State and realizes the importance of building relationships with beginning farmers. This position is full-time and will be located in the Northwest New York region with office space in a partner county office. This position is considered hybrid, with the opportunity to work remotely within New York State one or more days per week.
