POSITION SPECIFICS

Penn State Scranton is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join the Enrollment Management Office as anAdmissions Officer. This role reports to the Regional Associate Director of Enrollment Management and plays a key part in helping the campus meet annual recruitment goals. This includes, but is not limited to, nurturing and enhancing relationships with high school personnel and established pathways (such as dual enrollment), as well as building new partnerships. The position focuses on engaging diverse student populations, including high school students, adult learners, first-generation students, PELL-eligible students, veterans, and English language learners. In addition, a strong emphasis on working with the transfer population, as well as collaboration with athletic coaches and recruits is required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide guidance to prospective students - especially transfer applicants - and their families on admissions and financial aid throughout the enrollment cycle.
  • Respond to inquiries from applicants, families, and school counselors via phone, email, and both virtual and in-person meetings.
  • Review and assess application materials to determine admission eligibility.
  • Monitor application progress using reports and implement communication strategies to engage applicants.
  • Collaborate with the Financial Aid Coordinator to support recruitment, enrollment, and student retention.
  • Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, and utilize Microsoft Office Suite and other office technologies.
  • Build strong relationships and serve as a reliable resource for students, offering insights into the admissions process, academic programs, financial aid, campus life, and university structure.
  • Work cross-functionally with other departments as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Must be available to work on campus in Scranton at least four days per week, with flexibility for regional adjustments.
  • Preferred experience includes direct admissions work, familiarity with Slate CRM, and experience working with the transfer population.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Experience in recruiting diverse students populations who have a broad spectrum of perspectives and experiences and coordinating events is highly desirable.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing responsibilities within the office.
  • Willingness to travel and work occasional evenings and weekends for recruitment events, high school visits, college fairs, university meetings, and conferences.

MINIMUM EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE & REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree 3+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted Required Certifications: None

BACKGROUND CHECKS/CLEARANCES

This position requires the following clearances in addition to applicable background checks: PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form, and Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check. This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid driver's license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks. Penn State does not sponsor or take over sponsorship of a staff employment Visa. Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S.

SALARY & BENEFITS

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades, is $51,000.00 - $74,000.00.
