Over 90 years of quality products and superior service. Job Summary:Install, maintain and repair equipment which requires general electrical system knowledge and troubleshooting abilities. Use of hand, power, and measuring tools needed to repair and troubleshoot equipment. Perform welding, and general maintenance repair practices to maintain plant fixed and mobile equipment. Plant equipment includes a jaw crusher, cone crushers, roll crushers, impact crushers, bucket elevators, conveyor belts, rotary dryers and kilns, wire and rubber screens, rotary screw air compressors, dust collectors, slurry pumps, polyethylene pipe and other rock processing equipment. Ensure safe operation and repair activities during shift and coordinate operation downtime and maintenance needs with the Maintenance Supervisor and Superintendent. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES. 1. Inspect equipment (tools, cranes and mobile equipment) and work area for hazards and document inspection. Keep the work area and equipment clean and orderly. 2. Install, maintain and repair equipment such as motors, panels, generating equipment, lighting circuits, communication systems, elevators, cranes, hoists, heating units, control units, and other related equipment using A.C. and D.C. current ranging from low to high voltage. 3. Install conduit and light structural steel brackets and frame work for mountings. 4. Read blueprints, schematics and wiring diagrams. Use hand, power and measuring tools. 5. Use test apparatus. Use soldering equipment. 6. Diagnose and correct trouble in electrical and electronic units and controls. 7. Repair and maintain recording and control instruments. 8. Climb poles to string lines and make repairs. 9. Diagnose, troubleshoot circuits and change fuses. 10. Perform rough welding and burning in connection with electrical equipment, installation, maintenance and repair. 11. Analyze various types of drawings and wiring diagrams in order to locate and install circuits and equipment. 12. Determine material or replacement needs and select a logical approach to trouble shooting and repair adjust equipment for safe and proper operation. 13. On occasion, operate bench drill, pipe or bolt machines, grinding equipment and power saw. 14. Perform drying, baking, winding and varnishing duties as required to repair motors. 15. Install and maintain telephone and inter-com systems. 16. Operate mobile equipment such as forklifts, trucks and cranes as needed. 17. Keep work area and equipment neat and clean. 18. Report needed maintenance and repairs to supervision. 19. Record repair information on work order document and communicate to supervisor. 20. Perform other duties as required and assigned as outlined in Article V, and other Sections, of the ISP Minerals and United Steelworkers Local 7033 Labor Contract. ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES Knowledge of proper disposition of unsuitable materials. Knowledge of quality control standards. KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS Proficient in industrial electrical repair and installation. Must have the ability to weld and demonstrate knowledge of electrical and mechanical aptitude. Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required. This is normally acquired through a high school diploma or equivalent. Knowledge of the manufacturing processes, procedures, and machinery. This is normally acquired through one to two years of experience. Manual dexterity required for operating machinery. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds required. Ability to climb stairs, ladders, and walk extensively throughout the plant. Ability to wear respiratory protection. Ability to operate crushing and conveying equipment and other mobile equipment (haul trucks, pickups, forklifts, loaders) Ability to work in outdoor environments (heat and cold) WORKING CONDITIONS 1. Walking 2. Climbing (ladders and stairways) 3. Driving and operation of mobile equipment 4. Lifting (up to 50 # - frequently (floor to waist)) 5. Working from heights 6. Wear a Respirator and other required PPE (Fall Protection) 7. Work in outside environment 8. Working in awkward positions for extended periods of time. Such as bent at waist, squatting, sitting on knees or laying down. Work may require arms to be elevated above shoulders for extended periods. 9. Operation of a variety of hand tools powered by pneumatic, electric or hydraulic pressure as well as cutting torches and welders. Working conditions are normal for a Mine / Mill manufacturing environment. Environment consists of a variety of Rock Crushing, Screening and conveying equipment. Work involves lifting of materials and product up to 50 pounds. Machinery operation requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to; eye safety glasses, respirators, hearing protectors, work boots, and hardhats.
