CentraState Medical Center currently has an employment opportunity for a Polysomnagram Technician to support the Sleep Center. This role involves setting up patients for sleep studies, calibrating and maintaining diagnostic equipment, troubleshooting technical issues, and ensuring procedures are performed in accordance with department protocols. The technician monitors patient safety and comfort throughout the study and reports directly to a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) or the Clinical Medical Director. This position may also include supervising and mentoring trainees as part of the department's commitment to ongoing education and support.



Responsibilities

    Applies electrodes and other measure devices and operates equipment in an appropriate manner to obtain high quality polysomnagram.
  • Assures maximum comfort for the patient and provides education necessary to ensure patient's acceptance of the procedure. Provides patient education on therapy and arrange for home care as required.
  • Scores polysomnogram/MSLT accurately.
  • Provides appropriate documentation for physician interpretation. Maintains records, reports, logbooks as required.
  • Ensures proper functioning of equipment.
  • Provides routine cleaning of equipment as needed.
  • Maintains appropriate inventory of patient supplies.
  • Ensures cleanliness, appearance and safety of physical plant and reports issues to the appropriate department as well as supervisor.
  • Maintains department medical records.
  • Proficiently uses computer system.
  • Completes and submits billing and financial information on a daily basis.
  • Able to trouble-shoot equipment as needed to perform study.
  • Titration oxygen and non-invasive pressure support as required by Medical Director guidelines.
  • Reviews history, physical information, medication, procedure requested, and study protocol.
  • Assists with scoring sleepwake stages by applying professionally accepted guidelines.
  • Assists in generating accurate reports with record scoring.


Qualifications

  • Graduate of an approved respiratory school preferred or successful completion of polysomnagram program 1 year or longer in an accredited program or minimum 6 months experience as a polysomnagram trainee with documented required competencies.
  • Previous clinical experience preferred.
  • NJ Respiratory License required.
  • NBRC credentialed preferred.
  • Current CPR, ACLS, PALS certifications preferred.
  • Strong professional, organizational, and interpersonal skills to effectively relate with all members of the healthcare team.
  • Strong customer service skills.

Compensation Range: $33.00 - $52.80 per hour

The compensation above reflects the established range from CentraState Healthcare System (CSHS) for this position at the time the job was posted. CSHS considers many factors to determine compensation, including education, experience, skills, licenses, certification, and training. As such, team member compensation may fall outside this range.

Additionally, the compensation range reflects base salary and does not include extra shift rates or incentives tied to quality, productivity, etc., as applicable.

The benefits outlined also reflect CSHS' policy at the time of posting. Benefits as are made available to other similarly situated team members of CSHS, although participation is at all times in accordance with and subject to the eligibility and other provisions of such plans and programs.
