This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.

We are seeking dynamic Managers of Manufacturing Ops & Assembly to oversee our aerospace component production processes. This pivotal role will lead teams in achieving operational excellence while collaborating with cross-functional departments to continuously enhance manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate will be results-driven, adept at resource management, and committed to maintaining high-quality standards in a fast-paced environment.

This is a pooling requisition for current and anticipated openings across multiple Lunar teams, shifts, and locations. Candidates will be matched to the right roles as needs are identified.

Position Specific Details:

  • Shifts: A | Mon-Fri (8am-5pm)

  • Location:Space Coast, FL

  • Relocation:Available

  • Potential travel:Up to 10% for training and related activities (where applicable)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and optimize manufacturing operations to ensure efficiency and quality.

  • Lead and manage technician/engineer teams of various skillsets.

  • Develop and execute production plans to meet delivery schedules.

  • Mentor manufacturing teams, fostering a positive work environment, encouraging teamwork and openness, and sharing information to foster unity.

  • Collaborate with engineering, quality, and supply chain teams to address manufacturing challenges, balancing day-to-day activities with strategic planning.

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance production processes and metrics.

  • Monitor production performance and provide regular updates to senior management, demonstrating sound judgment, understanding the impact of team actions on business drivers, and adapting to industry changes.

  • Ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and company standards.

  • Manage budget and resource allocation for manufacturing activities.

  • Support new product introductions and scale up production capabilities.

  • Evaluate inputs and criteria to make informed decisions with a focus on decision quality.

Team Focus & Domain Expertise:

  • Lunar Lander Integration & Structural Assembly | Oversee integration and structural assembly manufacturing operations for the lunar lander. Take ownership of the product lifecycle-from early development through delivery-to ensure quality, efficiency, and alignment with program goals. Role demands a hands-on manager who excels at fostering team growth, mentorship, and operational excellence.

  • Lunar Transporter / Lunar Mission Operations | Lead a manufacturing engineering team responsible for the Lunar Transporter vehicle and subcomponents. Design and implement efficient manufacturing systems, ensuring stringent quality control and optimizing supply chain logistics. Guide your team through design development, process planning, build & flow, and manufacturing development needs. Develop fabrication specs, acceptance/test plans, maintenance plans, and Statements of Work; support requirements and interface control models (ICMs). Division Focus:Lunar Mission Operations ensures the Lunar Transporter vehicle is developed, assembled, tested, and delivered to the highest standards for lunar missions. Collaboration with engineering, QA, and logistics is critical to mission success.

  • Lunar Operations Core Components Manufacturing Engineering | Develop and produce critical lunar hardware: radiators, heat exchangers, solar arrays, mechanism hardware (docking systems). Support process optimization, DFM/DFA, manufacturing readiness reviews, and hardware delivery for lunar-exploration enabling systems.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 1+ years of experience managing a team within a manufacturing or aerospace environment.

  • 5+ years of experience as an individual contributor within a manufacturing or aerospace environment.

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, manufacturing, aerospace, Military, or equivalent experience required.

  • For engineering-focused roles: Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Electrical, or Aerospace Engineering (or related field) from an accredited university.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to analyze data and metrics to drive decision-making and improvements.

  • Ability to lift 50lbs and work at heights (stands/ladders/lifts) and/or in confined spaces.

  • Proficiency in Windows and Microsoft Office applications.

  • For engineering roles: 6+ years of manufacturing/industrial engineering and 3+ years of English work instruction generation.

  • Ability to work off shifts as required and move/work extended hours as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in engineering, business, or project management.

  • Lean Six Sigma Greenbelt certification.

  • PMP certification and EVMS experience.

  • Manufacturing engineering experience within aerospace or high-reliability industries.

  • Experience with hazardous operations; experience in human-rated aerospace vehicles.

  • Advanced manufacturing technology/tools experience (CAD, ERP/PLM/MRP like Teamcenter, Windchill).

  • Strong understanding of fabrication processes: machining, welding, composites, assembly.

  • Experience with New Product Introduction (NPI), team building, and process development.

  • Experience with BOM, BOM reconciliation, and digital work instructions.

  • Knowledge of AS9100/ISO 9001, NASA standards, and other regulatory/aerospace requirements.

  • Strong DFM/DFA skills and experience supporting IPTs and ICMs.

  • Excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills; high digital literacy (MS Office, Project, Visio, Jira, Confluence).

  • Ability to work onsite in fast-paced production.

  • Mission-focused, quality-driven, and detail-oriented; willing to work overtime.

  • Required for certain Job Profiles: Ability to obtain and maintain Merchant Mariner Credential, which includes pre-employment and random drug testing as well as DOT physical
