The UCSF Division of Hospital Medicine at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital (ZSFG) invites outstanding hospital medicine physicians to join our faculty. We seek clinically excellent mission-driven physicians at all levels of experience who thrive in an academic safety-net environment and are eager to contribute to scholarship, teaching, and health system improvement while delivering outstanding care to our patient population.
ZSFG serves as San Francisco's safety-net hospital, providing care to patients with complex medical, social, and structural challenges. Faculty in this role will be integral to teaching the next generation of UCSF-trained physicians, and advancing scholarship that enhances patient care, health systems, and/or health policy.
We offer four clinical tracks, providing flexibility to align your clinical and academic interests:
* Predominantly Days: Engage deeply in scholarship-including clinical excellence, medical education, quality improvement, systems-based improvements-and leadership roles.
* Hybrid: A balance of day and night shifts with flexibility for academic and leadership opportunities.
* Predominantly Nights: Dedicated nocturnist positions with unique mentored opportunities to develop and grow scholarship interests and skills.
* Addiction Medicine & Hospital Medicine Hybrid: blend of hospital medicine & addiction medicine clinical roles.
* Palliative Care & Hospital Medicine Hybrid: blend of hospital medicine & palliative care clinical roles.

Preferred/Desirable Qualifications (optional):
* Bilingual in English and Spanish or Cantonese (native-level fluency)
* Track record of excellence in clinical care, medical education, or systems-based scholarship
* Strong communication skills, including empathy, humility, and respect for differing viewpoints
* Experience working with underserved populations and navigating complex care environments
* Ability to thrive in dynamic hospital settings and work collaboratively
* Interest or experience in improving systems of care through quality, safety, education, research, innovation, or operational leadership
* Board certification in addiction medicine or palliative care for candidates interested in those tracks
For physicians primarily seeking a clinical role without formal teaching or scholarly expectations, or with flexibility in clinical hours, we invite you to explore our Medical Staff Physician - Hospital Medicine position, which offers the opportunity to flexibly practice high-acuity inpatient medicine in a mission-driven, academic setting at ZSFG.
The posted UC salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and step at appointment. See Table 5. The minimum base salary range for this position is $114,100-$344,400. This position includes membership in the health sciences compensation plan which provides for eligibility for additional compensation.
For positions that are 50% effort or less:
