How can you make an impact?

As the Director of Vendor Management, your leadership will directly influence how McGraw Hill collaborates with its strategic partners. By developing and implementing a robust vendor management strategy, you will optimize vendor performance, mitigate risks, and drive cost efficiencies. Your ability to negotiate favorable contracts/SOWs and build strong stakeholder relationships will be crucial in maximizing the value we derive from our vendor engagements, ultimately contributing to our mission of accelerating learning and unlocking the full potential of each learner.

This is a remote position open to applicants authorized to work for any employer within the United States.

What You'll Do:

Strategic Alignment

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive vendor management strategy aligned with the organization's strategic objectives.
  • Ensure alignment of vendor management activities with overall organizational goals and strategic initiatives.
  • Establish, as applicable, a preferred supplier program across McGraw Hill.

Leadership

  • Provide leadership and direction to the vendor management team, including setting goals, managing performance, and fostering professional development.
  • Report on vendor performance, strategic initiatives, and key vendor metrics to senior management, providing insights and recommendations.

Partnership within MH and with Vendors

  • Foster strategic partnerships with key vendors to leverage their expertise and drive innovation.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of vendor management policies and procedures.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders across the organization - especially with IT - to ensure alignment and effective collaboration on vendor-related matters.
  • Collaborate with the procurement team to negotiate all major contracts, pricing agreements, and service level agreements to establish mutually beneficial terms for the organization.
  • Partner with the business to establish quarterly calls with the top 25 suppliers across McGraw Hill

Value Maximization

  • Oversee the effective management of the entire vendor worker lifecycle in alignment with their SOWs, from selection, onboarding, change orders, invoicing, to offboarding.
  • Drive continuous improvement in vendor management processes and practices to enhance efficiency, compliance, and effectiveness.
  • Oversee the proactive identification and evaluation of potential new strategic vendors to meet the organization's evolving needs.
  • Define and manage the vendor risk framework and outsourcing policies across the organization.
  • Create a consistent supplier framework inclusive of metrics on how we assess top 25 suppliers within McGraw Hill.

What You Bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience of vendor management, procurement, or a related field, with demonstrated leadership experience.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement successful vendor management strategies and policies that drive business value.
  • Demonstrated expertise in negotiating complex vendor contracts and agreements.
  • Strong strategic thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.
  • Deep understanding of vendor management best practices, industry trends, and relevant regulations.
  • Experience in developing and managing vendor performance metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs).

Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • Deep understanding and experience managing IT Vendors.
  • Global experience and knowledge in services procurement and related global compliance regulations.
  • Experience managing major IT suppliers (e.g. Microsoft, Oracle, Salesforce, etc.)
  • Experience managing vendor management systems (VMS) for all labor types

The pay range for this position is between $124,350- $160,000 annually, however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location. An annual bonus plan may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical and/or other benefits, depending on the position offered.
