Overview
The Corporate Controller manages, coordinates and executes various finance and accounting activities and staff. This position reports directly to the CFO and may require travel on occasion.
The Corporate Controller is accountable for, but not limited to, project cost accounting and reporting (including percentage of completion accounting), monthly financial reporting, contract administration, customer billing management and accounts receivable. The candidate must have ten years' experience in business, preferably in the construction industry. A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting is preferred. We use CODEX accounting software designed by SAP. Familiarity with this product would be beneficial but is not a requirement.

Establish and maintain relationships with internal customers, including working directly with the CFO, the Corporate VP Finance/Treasurer, the Project Management group and area managers (who manage regional construction districts).
- Establish and maintain relationships with business customers while supervising the billing group
- Assist in resolving customer billing issues or answer customers' questions regarding invoices, policies or procedures.
- Supervise the Billing Manager in the process of invoice creation using Excel templates, AIA formats, customer websites, and internal accounting system, weekly, monthly and upon completion of projects for hourly, storm, unit and lump sum projects. This also involves weekly management of a large volume of timesheets which are used by both the payroll and billing departments.
- Respond to requests from various levels of management regarding information and analytical reviews; research, retrieve, and report information as needed.
- Participate in the work of subordinates to facilitate productivity, insure accuracy, or to overcome difficult aspects of work.
- Ensure optimum Revenue (in conjunction with the management of the billing function)
- Research, compile and prepare weekly aging, collection and billing reports
- Review collection reports to determine the status of collections and the amounts of outstanding balances
- Update management as needed
- Exhibit proficiency with accounting software, CODEX, and be able to:
- Make adjustments to accounts in open periods
- Process adjustments to revenue and cost as needed
- Run job reports weekly and review for unbilled jobs
- Research jobs with low net margins
- Manage Job Master in accounting system as needed to provide accurate information on reports
- Create spreadsheets, queries, PowerPoint presentations and Financial Reports as needed.
- Develop internal control policies, guidelines, procedures and document in the Accounting Manual.
- Maintain server files with current customer contracts.
- Implement corporate or departmental policies, procedures, and service standards in conjunction with management.
- Insure compliance with all state sales tax laws and filings.
- Prepare financial or regulatory reports as designated by CFO.
- Liaise with auditors during field work, and research and gather information as needed during audits.

Education: Bachelor's Degree (four-year college or university) in Accounting, preferred. Construction Management would be acceptable if the applicant has a high aptitude for accounting.
Experience: Ten years of work experience in business, preferably in construction industry.
Computer Skills: Advanced proficiency with Excel is a must. Experience with computerized accounting programs, proficient in MS Word; SAP/CODEX experience a plus!
Certificates & Licenses: Bachelor's degree, plus 10 years of accounting experience. CPA a plus but not required.
Other Requirements: Thorough knowledge of general accounting, strong "numbers" sense, excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
