Responsibilities

Program Description:

One year into a new 7-year contract, this program provides SETA (Systems Engineering Technical Advisor) & SE&I (Systems Engineering & Integration) services to an important Intelligence Community (IC) customer with a focus on critical, space domain missions and supporting IT infrastructure. The contract support is part of the customer core team focused on all aspects of the systems engineering life cycle beginning with conops development, where we work directly with users, potentially going into harm's way, who will be dependent on these systems. We then capture their requirements and work closely with developers to deliver these essential capabilities. We get involved with setting up and running tests to ensure these cutting-edge capabilities will meet the stringent requirements and then we support transition to operations. Once in operations, our teams work closely with the users to make sure critical operations are successful, providing important information to support critical decisions by policy makers. The program also supports client acquisition strategy, future technology development and modernization efforts.

Specific Position Description:

This position can be filled in Chantilly, VA or in the Aurora, CO areas. It will focus on the systems engineering for an operation mission which includes technologies related to RF space communications and high performance HW/SW systems to provide digital signal processing capabilities. This involves regular communications with users to understand new requirements, work with development contractors to understand those requirements and develop plans to deliver new capabilities. Finally, working with Operations to coordinate testing and the final delivery of new capabilities to fulfill user requirements. Individuals will become familiar with various systems architectures and eventually act as subject matter experts in advising the government clients on acquisition related decisions. Duties will include witnessing systems tests, equipment installations, and occasional travel to various CONUS and OCONUS locations around the world. Requirements analysis and digital engineering modeling are additional key responsibilities to ensure the baseline is maintained. The position may also assist the government in contracts related work including the development of Statements of Work, proposal reviews and development contractor performance assessments. When asked what motivates the members of this team, they typically site closeness to the mission, their customer's mission focus and a good understanding of the pivotal role they play in making this potentially lifesaving service into a reality.
