We are currently recruiting for a Pulp Control Room Operator in the pulp processing department of the Savannah River Mill in Rincon, Georgia. This role is responsible for working in a team environment to produce safely the quality and quantity of pulp at a competitive cost with a customer focused organization that is capable and aligned.

This role is on a rotating shift that reports to the pulp mill performance coach. Compensation in this role will be commensurate with experience.

Our Team

Our Savannah River Mill in Rincon, GA began operations in October 1986 and is considered a world-class operation in the industry. Five of the world's 12 largest tissue paper machines reside at the facility. Our operation is designed to produce products primarily from recycled fiber. We have over 50 converting lines that make the tissue, towel, and napkin products in our retail and away from home markets. What You Will Do

  • Monitor and control multiple pulping, secondary fiber screening, chemical delivery, water and reject processes in a high volume secondary pulping facility
  • Lead a team of operators to production goals and ensure the safety of the team
  • Understand the paper machine schedule for the facility
  • Communicate with Pulping Operators and Screen Operators on the expectations for fiber and throughput for the duration of your shift
  • Know the capabilities of each screening system related to quality, throughput, and operating parameters
  • Utilize furnish order specifications and operate envelope tools
  • Setup each screening system to deliver quality furnish to supply tanks
  • Use a DCS system to continuously monitor multiple processes such as flows, consistencies, pressure settings, amperage loads and various quality indicators
  • Multitask by responding to alarms, changes in parameters and advance trouble shooting skills across multiple systems
  • Communicate and direct deviations and other concerns to Screen Operators in the field so that concerns are address promptly
  • Collaborate with power plant and paper machine control room operators on various issues related to process changes in the pulp mill
  • Ensure lockouts, confined space and other permitting is executed before shutdown work is administered in pulp processing
  • Input information as required into computer systems
  • Accurately document information on equipment failures using systems such as Sharepoint, PTM, and Trax

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Two (2) years or more of experience working in a manufacturing or production environment
  • Experience with leadership in a team environment
  • Experience with Microsoft Office programs: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Experience monitoring and operating complex systems using DCS Controls or something similar

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Two (2) or more years of experience as a Secondary Fiber Screen Operator
  • Experience as a backup Control Room Operator for secondary fiber screening system
  • Experience utilizing SharePoint, PTM, Trax, GPIQs
