Empower Digital Inclusion: Guide Community Members to Tech Success as a Digital Navigator at the McCormick YMCA! Under the direct supervision of Tech Hub Manager and in collaboration with the Vice President, Community Innovation and Impact, the Bilingual Community Help Desk Team, other Tech Hub Digital Navigators, and Hub leadership, the Digital Navigator is responsible for developing and providing educational resources, implementing workshops, and managing strategies to ensure equitable access to digital resources, technologies, and opportunities for the communities. To bridge the digital divide, the Digital Navigator will address disparities in accessibility and affordability to technology and digital literacy skills among the communities. This role requires a deep understanding of digital inclusion issues, strong customer service skills, and the ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders. Candidates must be fluent in English and Spanish. Pay is $17.50 per hour, Monday/Wednesday/Friday: 10AM - 3PM and Saturday: 9AM - 2PM Our staff is the Y's greatest asset. Scope of Responsibilities:
- Monitor computer lab usage to ensure policies are followed
- Keep track of the number of visitors using the lab for grant reporting
- Respond quickly to inquiries from lab visitors about computer usage, connecting visitors to the Y's
- Community Help Desk when more advanced technical assistance is needed
- Provide technical support to computer lab visitors in accessing online digital skills assessments and
lessons offered through the Northstar and Coursera Online Learning systems - Proctor Northstar digital skills assessments when lab visitors have an interest in earning official
Northstar certifications - When possible, provide opportunities for visitors to develop technical skills and knowledge.
- Complete Northstar digital skills assessments and online learning to familiarize oneself with the
- Northstar system and potentially build one's own digital skills
- Assist with outreach efforts to increase community awareness about the lab and other resources
supporting digital learning
Minimum Requirements:
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalency
- Strong drive to provide excellent customer service and experience
Fluent in Spanish and English
Ability to navigate technology including teaching others. Familiar with Microsoft platforms.
Comfortable with networking and doing outreach and awareness advocacy for the Tech Hubs.
Open/willing to learn in hosting workshops and building digital literacy curriculum.
Willing to learn to input impact data for grant purposes.
Looking for an individual that is enthusiastic, self-disciplined, and take initiatives in leading.
- Positive and helpful attitude, with an interest in supporting digital inclusion for underserved communities
- Excellent verbal communication and customer service skills
- General awareness of Microsoft operating system and internet browser navigation.
- Knowledge of common software/applications such as Microsoft Office and Google Suite a plus. Digital skills training will be available
- Resourcefulness and quick-thinking nature to troubleshoot technical and customer service issues as they arise
- Interest in working in a team environment and ability to work independently
- Motivated and enthusiastic learner
- Must maintain confidentiality of client information

- Reporting any items that may provide a health or safety hazard to staff, members or guests to your supervisor
- Following all policies and procedures related to keeping children safe in our facilities and programs, including those related to the monitoring and supervision of children
- Reporting any suspicious behavior and violation of policy and procedures to your supervisor
- Completing all child abuse prevention training as required
