Job Description

Overview of the Position:


The Supplier Quality Engineer assesses supplier quality to ensure products are free from defects while maintaining internal Quality Assurance compliance.



Essential Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Participate in Quality Management System revisions as needed to support continuous improvement.
  • Required to use and understand process control to ensure product quality.
  • Apply and teach how to use statistical analysis tools to qualify and improve manufacturing processes.
  • Track supplier scorecards to evaluate quality and on-time delivery.
  • Track supplier non-conformance management trends.
  • Issue Supplier Corrective Action Reports to suppliers when suppliers nonconformance trends require.
  • Issue supplier surveys to ensure supplier capabilities are understood.
  • Maintain and manage the Approved Supplier List.
  • Perform audits of suppliers per AS9100/9120.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.



Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:



  • Knowledge in the manufacture of precision machined parts
  • Ability to read complex mechanical drawings including Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and ASME Y14.5
  • Strong database, spreadsheet, analytical and presentation skills
  • Must be fluent with Microsoft Office suite of products
  • Certification as a CQI, (CQE), Internal Auditor, Lead Auditor, six-sigma black belt preferred
  • Ability to audit AS9100 Quality Systems
  • Knowledge of FAR and DFAR requirements

Requirements

Education / Experience Requirements: Bachelor's degree in the Sciences, engineering, business, or other technical fields or five years of related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous experience in Quality Assurance is desired.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.



Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
