Job Summary

Loudoun County Public Library (LCPL) is offering collaborative, energetic, community-oriented candidates the opportunity to become a full-time Teen Services Librarian at the Rust Library in Leesburg, VA.

As a member of an enthusiastic team, Teen Services Librarians:

  • Provide direct customer service in reference, reader's advisory, programming and circulation functions.
  • Assist customers in the use of library resources and technologies.
  • Work in a collaborative environment with other staff to complete daily tasks, conduct programs and coordinate outreach.
  • Plan and lead programs for Teens.
  • Conduct outreach and create partnerships with community organizations.
Successful candidates will be passionate, creative team players with excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills. Must possess strong multi-tasking, organizational and technology skills. All staff work in a collaborative environment to complete daily tasks, conduct programs and coordinate outreach.

LCPL provides services seven (7) days a week. Work schedules vary and include weekends, evenings and holidays. This position requires occasional participation in After Hours Teen Center, an event for students in Grades 6-12 that occurs every Friday from 6 to 9 p.m.

Hiring salary is commensurate with experience.

Minimum Qualifications

Master's degree in Library Science from an American Library Association accredited school; six (6) months of related library experience.

Some supervisory experience preferred. Experience with Microsoft Office products preferred. Loudoun County provides a language stipend for individuals who pass a language proficiency test.
